i currently use an AMG Viella V12 with the turbo version of the 12inch arm - cart is a DS Audio Master 1

i am just thinking if i was to upgrade my TT where would i go? I love the sound of my current set up but is it possible to get more?

I dont want a more analytical detailed sound, but prefer a more natural organic even warm sound. I listened to a Kronos the other day but didnt like it. Not sure what to audition next - any thoughts warmly appreciated.

I'd consider a Grand Prix Audio Monaco 2.0.

John, do you consider the Monaco to have a "more natural organic even warm sound"? I have heard it described as incredibly accurate, neutral and transparent with incredible drive. Almost as if the Monaco has no sound of its own, though I know that is not possible.

pweg, If you are looking for a more natural, organic, warm sound from your system, why not get a neutral turntable to serve as a platform for the tonearm and cartridge? In other words, tailor the sound to your like through other means than the turnable. IMO, the turntable should not very little audible sound of its own and flavor should come from cables, cartridge, or perhaps speaker choice and how the speakers are positioned in the room. Well, that is just a different approach.

Sorry, I don't have any recommendations for a turntable that sounds as you describe.

You can listen to Awsmone’s video clip of a Monaco in VdH Master Sig thread. Excellent clarity.

Kind regards,
Tang

Thanks Tang. I find it very difficult to attribute a sound to a particular component in an unfamiliar system from watching a video clip, unless it is a direct comparison like the ones you made when only switching the cartridges.

To be fair, you have at least 10 choices. It will depend on budgets and tastes

Natural yes. Organic yes. Warm, depends on on arm/cartridge/cables and what support its on. I would not say neutral...more even handed which allows the natural warmth of vinyl to shine

Thx everyone for their replies.

Budget wise I’m flexible. Id like to keep it in balance with the resotvmy system - Marten Coltrane 3 fed by Absolare Sets.
Tastes wise it’s all about the vocals for me. And not being hyper detailed and in ur face.

If you don’t have too much budget limit, get a Vyger Atlantis.

If I don’t have what I have I would try the Atlantis too. The only reservation is it is limited to one arm. And if only limit to one arm then the Opus1 is the one to have.

Kind regards,
Tang

You may want to consider the Kizma tables. The upper end stuff has made many happy. Perhaps the Stabi M would meet your needs. I think there are a few owner on WBF. Good support in Europe as well.

In Japan, DS Audio and Marten are represented by TechDAS' mother company. I've heard demos with these (Air Force 2 and 3). I would look into these tables.

Yeah understood. You must commit to the best cartridge only - monogamy lol.

Personally I think one arm and one cart is silly. It is good only for people who have multiple TT set ups and can, when they get bored, afford to get rid of the TT and buy another one. Otherwise at least two arms minimum are required.
