14 seconds? Really? Oh come on. 24 is fine. Even amateur 30 is fine!

I predict that even with the foul changes, what we will see is a lot more misses. Also expect starter/star minutes to decrees as full court presses that require a lot of energy will sap wings dry.

Oh.....the shot clock is still 24 seconds but is reset to 14 seconds only after offensive rebounds. That's not too bad.

Not that bad in most parts of the game, Jack. But let's see if I get this right. With 24 seconds left in the game, a team's player gets an offensive board, so instead of having 24 seconds left to run out the clock, it now has 14 and the other team gets the ball back with 10 seconds to score rather than having to foul with 24 seconds in the clock for the other team to run it out.

With the old rule, the other team has to foul. With the new rule, the other team can hope for a stop and get the ball back with 10 seconds left for them.

interesting thought Phil. It will change game strategy for sure esp at the end of the game as you suggest

Yes Steve. Could be critical, though I personally don't like the fact that a team can lose a game after being up by 4 with a few seconds to go just because the other team keeps fouling and players miss those pressure packed free throws.

Yep. That's exactly right.

Sounds worthwhile for the end of games.

Glad to see Towns stay in Minny rather than go to on of the ‘majors’. Wiggins needs to make ambit jump, but has shown little if any improvement over the years. Thibs reminds me of Skiles (without the ability to coach offense) — he wears guys out.

First day of training camp is over, and the C's are complete, with Hayward playing 5 on 5 and even had a dunk and Kyrie hitting the game winner in their first practice game. 2 weeks from now the NBA officially begins, and a check on the the Celtics Knicks game at Madison Square Garden on October 20 flashed ticket prices of $1100 at the lower level. Bleachers' seats cost $200. Wow. The C's are getting some attention, even on the road.

Anxious to see the Celtics at full strength this year. They should be a force to reckon with when healthy.

Heard one commentator this morning say there were three legitimate title contenders this season. He didn't name names. My top three would have to be Warriors, Rockets and Celtics.

Totally agree

One of the online sports channels said that when Cousins comes back and plays center it may do the GSW more harm than good

Hope the C's get an injury free season. Their bench now has Smart, Rozier, Morris, who could be starters in some teams. Their possible first 5 of Hayward, Irving, Brown, Tatum and Horford is a small ball team. Baynes will be needed if opponents play big ball. :)

And yes, I can see the final 4 of Philly, Celtics, Rockets and Warriors, and wishing a Rockets Celtics finally. Rockets one win away last season, so they ought to finish the job now. :D

I think Melp for Ariza is a downgrade in both offense and especially defense. I'm picking the Thunder over the Rockets this year. They're gonna be very stingy.

I am not convinced Billy Donovan can coach (the pros and or Westbrook anyway) but I think D’Antoni can. I’ll bet ya a hypothetical drink on that series should it come about.

I just don't believe Westbrook will get a ring while playing for Oklahoma

I totally agree about Donovan albeit, coach of the year award withstanding, I have doubts about D'Antoni too. With Donovan's shortcomings it isn't doubts, I'm certain. He's like Vogel. Ok game to game but poor at in-game adjustments. LOL

You're on Bob. I'm optimistic about the Thunder given how much better they were with Grant playing 4 last season (Remember the demolition of the Ws with Melo in foul trouble? Oh and the ability of PG13 and Roberson to shut The Beard down). Then there's the improvement of the bench with the addition of Schroeder and Noels. I also wouldn't be surprised if we see Westbrook playing the 2 more often, his original position before entering the pros. If Ferguson and Heustis continue to develop at the same rate, they've just gotten very deep. I think the Rockets went backwards this summer acquisition wise and CP3s durability will always be a big question mark. I like MCW but I'd rather see Harden play point and have another roll man or shooter with him.

Cool, we'll see. Agreed on all your OKC points, let's see if Donovan and staff can develop and mesh the talent. I think moving Westbrook to 2 and having Schroeder run the point is a lineup w/a lot of upside. Kudos to Presti who is as good as any GM in the game. Keeps a small market team more than relevant, signs a big time free agent, adds other useful pieces... Only thing he couldn't do is keep Harden, and perhaps hire the right coaches. I'm not much of a Scott Brooks fan either.

2 games into the preseason now for the C's, and after the first bucket of Hayward, a big collective sigh of relief from Celtics fan all over that he survived it. :D Still very rusty as expected, he is now the 2 guard, with Brown at 3 and Tatum at 5.

That is interesting....always thought of Hayward as a small forward.

Glad he is back and able to play. Hate to see any player have a serious injury.
