Does Analog EQ belong in State of the Art Systems?

Really? Then tape and vinyl are not SOTA because you have to use additive/subtractive EQ for playback

It Finally Happened: Not One, but TWO Heart Attacks

Wow.... that was a story! Glad you're on the mend. I don't have to say, the older we get, the more attention we have to pay to our bodies. Your body will tell you when something is wrong.

    Archiving vinyl/tape

The easiest software that is out there is called Reaper. There is another called Audacity. It used to be free and there is a lot of on-line support if you need it. I know at one time, Andreas Koch had recording software that you could use with his A/D converters that would record in DSD. As...

Can digital get to vinyl sound and at what price?

I've done many of these graphs when I had 6-8 A/D converters doing tape transfers for David Wilson and HDtracks. There are many variables to take into consideration but you try so hard to keep those variables to a minimum. I was using software by Algorithmix and Cedar and doing all my...

    New Magnepan 1.7i speakers

Just noticed lately on the Magnepan website, there are a lot fewer options for trim colors. I really loved a Blue set of 30.7 speakers I saw some time ago, but they don't offer it. Looks like the 1.7i that I have does not come in the cool Red Aluminum trim any more.

Does Analog EQ belong in State of the Art Systems?

I would say if you are using subs with large mains, I would highly encourage you to look into the JL Audio CR-1 x-over. Completely analog with great build quality!

Does Analog EQ belong in State of the Art Systems?

Any Mastering engineer worth their metal uses an analog EQ... sometimes several! Using a tape machine... you're running through an analog EQ for NAB/IES/AES.... same for TT using RIAA.. As someone above said..... Fix Your Room..!!

Ron's Favorite Private Rooms + Systems of All Time

The only custom room that I've heard and liked, was Winston Ma's. Most of the good sounding rooms that I have been in are just normal (symmetrical) rooms with acoustical treatment.

    ADC recommendation?

I don't subscribe to Tidal, but I'm sure many are.

    ADC recommendation?

Pyramix with Hapi/Horus is a steep learning curve. I've used it since '05 and have had no issues. The community is a great resource if you get into a bind. So far, it's been rock solid.

Can digital get to vinyl sound and at what price?

What was the BLER of the CD from the original DDP? Guess we'll never know!

He spent his life building a $1 million stereo. The real cost was unfathomable

Not including your spouse/family/SO or wanting to learn more about their passions are missed opportunity in life. I really feel for the folks that live separate lives. Time can not be purchased with any amount of $$. I've been spoiled (and blessed) with a spouse that purchased and actually loves...
