I personally think that Rose RS150B has a fairly decent DAC output. If you’re going to pair with D’Agostino, you may want to wait to get your DAC to make sure you don’t go over board on the analog sound.
That said, a tube DAC (e.g. Lampizator) or R2R DACs (e.g. Holo, MSB, TotalDAC, Schiit, etc)...
Interesting. I haven’t had a chance to read about this elsewhere. I’m curious what Part 3 shows.
What I can say is that in the past, I have tried posting something critical of HQPlayer and PGGB on Audiophile Style forum and I was threatened with libel and almost got banned. So I backtracked and...
Fair enough. There are velocity traps and pressure traps. I was thinking of velocity traps but what you said is true for pressure traps. And I guess AAVA C20/214 and Vicoustic Vari-Bass Ultra are pressure traps so I was incorrect in my example.
I think for those of us who can’t put bass traps everywhere in our room, we should always measure what the bass issue is at our listening position and measure what bass buildup occurs at the areas where we can put the bass traps.
If the listening position has an 88Hz peak but the location where...
From what I have read here, everyone who has heard both seem to think M3 has significantly more bass than the M2. So coming from a Sasha W/P, I suspect you’ll prefer the used M3 if you can find one. I’m perfectly happy with my M2 but I have a smaller room.
That said, if you’re upgrading from a...

The C Wave patent is available online. So in my opinion, it’s a scientifically tested DSP/EQ/reverb which is proven to be euphonic to listeners who participated in the study.
Having a photo of your room really helps. As your place reminds me of my own listening room and in the end, I had limited options to move my seat or to put up bass traps so I ended up resorting to DSP after strategically placed bass traps to optimize the sound.
My gut feeling is that you don't...

I guess Magico S5 2024 will be announced April 2, 2024 and then people can see it in Munich?
So yeah, if you look at the stereophile review, you can see that feeding Okto DAC8 USB has lower levels of jitter compared to other sources. So I suspect if you upgrade M50.2 to a more modern digital streamer, you probably would get slightly better sound out of the Okto DAC8. But it's really...
Hmmm. That is extremely unusual.
Often the reasons for this are in order because
1) you are sitting at a bass null in the room so no amount of speakers or subwoofers would pressurize your sitting position
2) your subwoofer is sitting at a room null for the frequency that you want to pressurize...
2nd sub.
But... do you already have microphones and computer hardware to measure to optimize sub integration with your speakers?
Because if so, you might get more bang for your buck measuring the system, moving your listening position, speakers and maybe putting selective acoustic treatments...
For $10,000, you can get a lot of different products that would probably give you more of a sonic upgrade.
I'm also a bit unclear on how your system is currently connected based on your bio.
Is it M50.2 to miniDSP SHD streamer/Dirac processor to NAD M32 amp? Or is it just M50.2 to M32...
Sounds like there are some acoustic issues in the room causing a pretty odd frequency response. Most speakers are not designed to give such an up and down frequency response. Other Magico’s I’ve measured at my dealer also don’t give this kind of frequency response (A3, A5, M2).
But did you use...
Just looking at my September 29, 2023 NY Phil concert Apple Watch dB measurements. Quietest was 50dB, loudest was 100dB briefly. Average was 83dB. I was about 20 rows from the stage.
very interesting post. Just got to work so I can’t measure at my loud living room.
I have to admit I’m a nitpicker. but I don’t actually know if the radio shack digital meter is calibrated. So the relative dBs you got are correct but the absolute dB might be off.
I’ve looked into this before...
