Porsche 911 R on the way

hah....I resurrected the old post to update. I don’t disagree on PDK or better yet PDK S. If I tracked regularly the 2/3 RS or dedicated track car is faster. I drive through the cascades in PNW or down in CA desert. Actually like the drive taking a little longer. Cheers

Porsche 911 R on the way

My 911R‘s cousin finally showed up. Both six speed manuals. One makes lots of noises and revs freely and the new one lets you put the top down and rev to 9K

I am not close enough to the company to know when they will replatform their top of the line. I will say as a. Vivaldi owner who purchased in 2012....they have provided some significant upgrades over the last eight years that has allowed my stack to advance with the industry. I think you...

    Recommendation For Digital System Upgrade

I have a Rossini DAC and clock in my study system. unless you plan to spin CD’s often you can forgo the transport. get a good NAS and a Roon Nucleus, rip your music to the NAS, download some high Rez material and subscribe to Tidal/Qobuz. You won’t look back

    New Study System

Quarantined with family in our desert vacation home. Had been building a quality but compact (headphone based) system for study. The Vivaldi One showed up from factory this week along with HRS rack. Woo 3ES and Stax 009S show up Tuesday. Use Roon as the server for the Vivaldi. Will...

Which DACs are upgradeable? Any brands fighting obsolescence?

I would say it’s the perspective and venue cues that I hear from the dCS rather than any specific sonic attribute. Both provide world class sonics across a variety of formats. I like small jazz quartets/trios and to my ears...the dCS provides a clearer and more appropriate sized perspective...

Which DACs are upgradeable? Any brands fighting obsolescence?

The dCS Vivaldi stack was released in 2012....I bought it the same year. They continue to provide updates and improvements including Roon endpoint compatibility and now MQA full conversion. In the last 6 years there has been one HW upgrade to the network card in the upsampler and the price...

I do the same thing for my Vivaldi DAC updates....I have a folder called updates on NAS that i can easily direct Roon to....once scanned I run through upsampler in bit perfect mode and it works great. My updates also went smoothly and it’s great to have MQA option

This ^ - although I only think it only involves the Upsampler and DAC boxes. The challenge is that MQA license restrictions do not allow the upsampler to send out a fully decoded digital signal that is at high resolution. in the one box units this is not an issue. For the Vivaldi, the...
