Fascinating response, thank you for this. The family friend is not referenced above; although ironically, the first name of that person is the same, the surname is different. Did you know anyone else at the time who owned one? They would have been living in Duxford, Cambridge at the time...

    Introducing the LampizatOr Poseidon DAC

I'm so excited by this product. I had the Horizon here at my home for a good few weeks (I can't remotely afford one but the UK distributor needed his demo unit delivering to someone and collecting whilst he was away so I ended up doing the favour and enjoying it's company). I was smitten by the...

Audio Note UK Jinro - Any Good

Well, you just made the exact same point I was making in my post. The initial price point is high but it's off set by future resale values. I did make that point in my post but it still doesn't mean that the initial price point isn't very high for mainstream brands relative to other options.

Audio Note UK Jinro - Any Good

I should have said I lost my job in October 2022 and went back to work March this year so it's all good, but I appreciate your expression of care. Good luck and have fun exploring with Greg.

Audio Note UK Jinro - Any Good

I lost my job last October and am a single parent with a mortgage. I had some cover financially but nothing like enough to last me more than a month or two and I knew it was likely to take up to six months to find a new job so I had to raise cash or risk losing my house and my kids being being...

Audio Note UK Jinro - Any Good

I came very close to buying a Meishu Tonmeister, as far even as paying the money to the dealer for the whole system. I think at the time the new retail price was £10k (this was only back in 2020!), but even then, when I heard what else my budget would buy if you stepped away from the path of...

Yes, as I indicated above, the new power supply, which replaced my three year old one, is a great improvement, generally across the spectrum, but very specifically the bass response was where the biggest gains were made.

You mean you have a 5u4g rectifyer in your Silvercore? I'm guessing that's what you mean. The KR Audio one is supposed to be excellent but I have found somewhere with a big stash of NOS 5u5g rectifyers that aren't that expensive so may well give one a go.

    SET amp owners thread

Posting some pictures of the Silvercore 833MKIIs in the context of the room and system. The hORNS FP15s are a recent addition, moving up from the FP10s I got three years ago from Lukasz Domanski of Lukasz Audio Labs (LDMS). They were a huge jump and quite a different speaker to the FP10s which...

    SET amp owners thread

I couldn't comment on the technical aspects but all the reviews of these amps are unanimous in their praise. I have heard a ZOTL licensed pre-amp made by Linear Tube Audio and was very impressed by it.

There will always be a 'but' - no design can do everything to please everyone. But I'd be interested in hearing any amplifier that can reproduce SS bass tautness and SET transparency and sweetness. A good friend of mine (HeiHei) used to have a set of David Berning Quadrature Z that I suspect did...

    SET amp owners thread

Posted this in repsonse to a question from Moricab back in Jan and Bonzo just asked me to post it here, so here it is. I've been living with, and loving, a pair of Silvercore 833MKII monoblocs for the last three years. Compared to other low powered SET designs, the Silvercores have a lot of...

    Silvercore amps

Hi there - jusrt did a random search for Silvercore and saw this post. Probably the response is far too late for whatever you were asking for, but I've been living with, and loving, a pair of Silvercore 833MKII monoblocs for the last three years. Compared to other low powered SET designs, the...

    LDMS Server

I don't know enough to know why a streamer should be simple to design but I suspect that it is anything but. Usually the simpler something is the harder it is to get right. It's like writing a really good 2000 word essay or an operating system in a few thousand lines of code. It's much harder to do.
