I might chime in here as I'm fully aware and understand your standpoint and @godofwealth as myself have full DHT based amplification - 10Y (and variants) in pre and 845 in power amps. Also massively love the presentation of 45s/46. I had entire line of Lampi DACs with DHTs (Big7, GG1, GG2, Pac)...
You’ve already got the answer from the other guys but just to add - Lampi as is with stock tubes is a fantastic product so you can not go wrong.
My PoV on tube rolling - If I can use the analogy from airline industry - you paid for the business class seat on the Singapore Airlines long haul...
Yes - that is the one i use daily. Can't remember when was the last time I used any of the other ones as this one is just the best one.
TBH Elrog is also great but somewhat in my book behind NOS ones and more expensive on top...but you won't go wrong with WE or Taylor VT25 anyhow.
Lets say that I have majority of "best" 10Y and variants options - Radiotron 801 black plates, Radiotron 801 silver plates (both globe and very rare), WE VT25, Taylor Vt25 carbon plates, VT25 normal ones, different ST shape 10Y tubes, Elrog 801 and proudly above all stands 801 globe black...
With all due respect that is your PoV - with whom ever I talked it had the same thinking as i wrote above.
What Acora is doing is of course his business and marketing strategy, not necessarily be the right one (time will tell).
One thing I was discussing with my audio buddies is why Acora in the last few shows was presenting with VAC being the competitor to ARC which they own.
As a user or potential customer my thinking process would be - ARC is crap hence they demo with VAC.
And BTW I was a long and happy ARC owner...
