New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Good article. Although compared to you I don't have much data, I share your opinion of Rivers - journeyman coach. The Celtics' personnel is awesome now, but they still have to prove that they can win the big games.

New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

I saw this game. Lakers took what was offered, played like a team, and won. Good for them. Terrible home loss for the Bucks, who played like a HS team with their 4Q lead. Their legs were gone and still they insisted on taking 3 after 3. No ball movement, no plays. Rivers, were you awake...

Bryston 7B3 vs 4B3: Extra Cost Worthwhile?

A pair of 7B3s would be overkill for me. There are better ways to spend your money IMO. A 4B3 looks like a fine choice (or maybe a 14B3 as suggested above) IF it addresses an important shortcoming you've identified. But if you're thinking of a serious 'end game' upgrade of your system, I...

    S3 MK3 (2023) Arrived

Interesting and very thorough. I've had my S3 2023's for about five months now - driven by an Esoteric K-01XD SACD player, Esoteric C01X solo preamp, and an M-10X amp. After reading your review, I was curious. So I've been listening to perhaps the world's best classical trumpet player, Hakan...

Good ol’ honest engineering - the world best cd transport from years ago

As many here probably know, Esoteric is TEAC's luxury brand where VRDS CD/SACD front loading transport technology is featured. Current incarnations are their VRDS ATLAS mechanisms. There's plenty of detail on VRDS on the Esoteric website under their various SACD player models. Esoteric used...

    CH M1.1 or A1.5 x 2

I am a former S3 MkII/Diablo 300 owner. The Diablo 300 is a powerful integrated noted for its strong bass. I doubt that the CH Precision options mentioned will surpass the Diablo bass. (However, they may provide a more refined sound.) Before swapping equipment, you might want to spend some...

New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

When I was in school in the Bay Area I saw the Warriors with Chamberlain play the Celtics with Russell at the Cow Palace. Due to Russell's USF roots, it was essentially a neutral court with the crowd evenly divided. I think the Celts won, but the Chamberlain/Russell battle was something to...

    S3 MK3 (2023) Arrived

Townes, I've had the S3 2023's since Fall. They replaced S3 MkII's (on spikes) that I had for more than five years. I've heard all of the A Series speakers several times. The S3 2023's are superb. Compared to the MkII's, they are clearer and more transparent across the spectrum. Regardless...

New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

I caught part of this. Athletic young Lakers were impressive. Maybe they should sit their big guns more often (or trade them). Celtics underperform in another big game.

Is iPad/Laptop as Streamer Good Enough?

Still just guessing, but I think it's all about portability of the streamer and the exact rendition of his music - hence a consistent portable vehicle for plugging his music into just about anybody's system - not optimized for SQ.

Is iPad/Laptop as Streamer Good Enough?

I suspect that Jeff Fritz' use of a MacBook Pro as his streamer is at least partially due to a need to hear his music played on different systems through a steamer he understands well as he travels to different client/show venues.
