    Mullard 12AU7 versus Hivac CV491

Just beware that they tend to be more "Hissy" than tubes of similar vintage. I don't mind it, if you like the specific sound profile, but don't buy it if you favor "pitch dark silence" and total absence of high freq hissing...

    Mullard 12AU7 versus Hivac CV491

Hi Ron The Hivac CV491 KB/HR ( in gold lettering) in black plate are special sounding tubes: They are warm, yet sounding clear in a sweet kinda way, abit like the black plate, square getter brimar tubes of the same vintage. They sound less "bloated" than some mullards in certain systems. If you...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Good on you Mike! I have been using Centerstage2 0.8 all along ( that's what I have when I acquired the Ref Dac). It gives you all the Immersion effect as we all know, but balancing 8 centerstage is quite a pain initially. It must be much easier with the Revopods given the design differences...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

I believe we derive different types of contentment with audio.. There's the typical audiophile type, where we, for example, swap cables, footers etc and derive real fun from the differences/"improvements " in our sound world. There's the more visceral, emotional type where you somehow connect...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Mike Of all the genre in music, Wadax's improvement is most dramatic in the "humaness" of the human voice, and out of the human voice, I find the most amazing in Operatic voices. The expressive dimension of mezzo sopranos and baritones in particular

Hi Cyrus Havn't gone that far yet, I'm using Rose at the moment, no Roon. But will get the matching Streamer in due course. Its just gonna take some time. Having said that, I'm pretty OK with the sonics so far, amazing.

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Hi Spirit Youtube/MP3 do have lots of artifacts, I can only agree, Wadax also lets you know that the artifacts are there, you just don't notice it, unless you focus on those aspects. BTW, I noticed you used EERA CD player, NAT audio with Mullards and GE 211s and Zu Definitions. Great...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Sometimes, really precious music making is not available in the best resolution that I would like. I am personally more that happy to accept lower resolution, but Wadax is able to allow that sense of "being there" in the concert hall, its a feeling, a sense of occasion, rather than simply "Air"...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Maybe I should learn to explain with examples. Perhaps I was too vague in my description. I love Devieilhe as well, and the warner youtube video is indeed one of my favorites. One of the special aspects of Wadax is its ability to extract out the "Human aspect" of music making, the ability to...
