Can a Technics SL-1200G challenge the state of the art?

First of all thanks. I think Inspire Audio (or similar name) do a very impressive SL1200 upgrade. I know many claim they can hear the speed correction in play due to the multiple one way speed corrections - i think they are talking a bit of nonsense frankly - once up to speed fluctuations on...

Can a Technics SL-1200G challenge the state of the art?

I’m a huge fan of dd’s. And the technics is quite superb and can take you very far. The issue is that whilst you can do magic with the plinth platter mat and arm there is the issue of the speed control. It’s a 12 pole motor the sp10 is 15 pole. This is where say the Sony TTS8000 is superb it...

Does anyone know how the Teflon capacitor upgrades were done? I understand that it was both the caps and some internal wire.

    Best turntable under 50k?

The exclusive P10 has quite astonishing specs - it is superior to just about all decks manufactured now - its no surprise that it will stack up to anything out currently. I have a JVC QL10, EMT 950, townshend rock elite (not standard) Amazon Model One and a yet to be plinthed Sony TTS8000. I...

Not knocking them - but I've always respected SME's - never loved them - i'm happy to be persuaded otherwise though. In testing @Syntax ire I was blown away by the Continuum and Sirius and think that the FR64s is a bit bloated although I do like it nevertheless ;)

    Monster Sigma Genesis S2000

i actually have all the paperwork with mine - i will fish it out. I haven't listened to it much in fairness. I bought it from EXPERT STYLUS and was basically new. I think the coils are probably copper. It's quite a light cartridge i must say and want to try it on my Moerch DP6 - that said the...

    Kuzma SAFIR 9

A £20,000 arm with a cardboard template. That is rather ludicrous - why not add £200 and give a decent jig?

Is there a "World's Best Cartridge?"

Can I just ask about synergy. Not compliance. I find my transfiguration temper v sings on my Amazon model one as they were developed together for instance likewise my EMT tsd SFL is extraordinary in my EMT 950. I’m still looking for the perfect home for my monster sigma which I am told is an...

Near-Field Listening: Acquired Taste or Proper Paradigm?

Dear TMallin can i just ask: a. How are you equalizing the bass? b. I have read that bass manipulation can bring bout timing issues of itself c. does the nearfield help prevent room modes d. do you not find the backwall placement runs the massive risk of bass overload

The 12 Most Significant Loudspeakers of All Time

Completely agree. It's an odd mixture of significant mixed with favourite. In terms of technology advancements and relevance: 1. A & R - might not be the best but arguably most relevant to our homes 2. Quad ESL 57 3. BBC LS3/5A - used in studios and stations the world over 4. YAmaha NS1000m...

More Consensus That Streaming Is An Inferior Format & Not High End?

Can i just ask if your hardware is at risk of becoming obsolete, or can it be regularly updated with new Firmware and Software? I only ask because the technology is moving pretty quickly and. a large investment may be quite risky - my digital front end is theree for the music i cannot get on...
