I'm not sure about that. Have you looked at the Magnetar?

    Panasonic DP-UB9000 4K Blu-ray player | High-end Audio/Video machine

The Panasonic DP-UB820-K $499.99, (439.95 amazon) seems to have the same features for half the price. Build quality is not the same.

Which live music? A lot sounds terrible.

I don't see your point. Did you want me to lie? I suppose my system which includes a new Krell amp, JBL 4343's, PS Audio BHK Sig. and a few more goodies makes me very lucky. And I'm grateful. Audio Research isn't going to reward you.

Himalayan Salt Lamps as HiFi tweak - Snake-oil or Not?

I wouldn't use LED bulbs. The heat from incandescents helps prevent sweating.

Himalayan Salt Lamps as HiFi tweak - Snake-oil or Not?

You need to leave them on all of the time and only use incandescent bulbs.

Himalayan Salt Lamps as HiFi tweak - Snake-oil or Not?

Yeah, I have a couple but I wouldn't place them near my gear. They release salty moisture when not on. I leave mine on constantly and always use incandescent bulbs with them to keep them warm and dry.

Need advice on drilling Micro Seiki armboard

I think if you use the template that should come with arm you will be able to correctly ascertain where the armboard can be located for proper geometry at two locations on the record fairly easily. Just make sure the stylus can maintain the proper overhang and tracking angle.

    SA-9 Transformer Replacement

The SA-9 is great but the transformers are noisy. Having the potentiometer bypassed by Michael made a big difference for the better.

    SA-9 Transformer Replacement

Thanks Marco. I got Michael to repair and update my SA-9 years ago. Should have replaced the Transformers then. I think I have the schematics but need to check. Don't know about the Plitron part number though. Regards Robert

    Oppo BDP-83, making repairs

It's still a very good player if you had it repaired. Mine has worked very well after having done so. It was actually a lot longer ago than I remembered(December 6, 2012) and it's still working well. I imagine the loader was replaced with an improved version.

    Oppo BDP-83, making repairs

In addition I had the loader replaced in my 83 a couple of years ago. It was out of warranty but Oppo replaced it free of charge with free return shipping. It might be woth checking with them. They say they will still perform repairs even though they are no longer making players.

    Oppo BDP-83, making repairs

That's more than likely glue around the capacitors that you see. In older equipment from long ago some glue was corrosive and could damage surrounding devices. I doubt that's what is happening in this case.
