I have for sale an Etsuro Red Bordeaux "Special Edition" MC cartridge as supplied by Mik in the UK which has only 50 or so hours use. For further info please feel free to send me a pm
I have for sale a brand new DaVa Reference cartridge with Tube PSU which was delivered to me by Darius some months ago. I ordered the cartridge late last year at a time when I was not entirely happy with the sound of my system. Since then I have made a few component changes and had Stirling...
Particularly interested to read Mik’s observations as I recently went for an Opus after doing a compare v a CAR60 and Fuuga in my Kuzma 4 Point 14 and Monaco 2.0...all great cartridges but in my system the Opus really connected with me...funnily enough I used to have a PC1 and it never really...
Yes a bit perverse but it works...I believe Kevin has experimented with various different types of battery for the Monaco...maybe Alvin will come up with an even better solution...all I would say to any Monaco TT owner is to try and hear for yourself
Oh one other thing to mention is that the performance of the Monaco 2.0 is significantly elevated in terms of flow and body when the supplied switching power supply is exchanged for a battery supply (Optima Red Top Battery RTS 4.2) - I have to thank Kevin at Definitive Audio for the suggestion
Hi I have the Monaco 2.0 with Kuzma 4 Point 14” and Opus 1....before that I had a Brinkmann Le Grange with upgraded sinus motor and Ront tube supply....I can only echo what jfrech says about the Monaco... Stirling Trayle did the final set up for me and all I will say is we both spent hours...
I engaged Stirling to set up my system in London...the results are beyond my expectations. I have Magico S7s in a smallish room and they now almost disappear. The improvements Stirling has wrought from my system exceed what I have been able to achieve from (expensive) component upgrades...quite...
Hi all, in case it might be of interest to members in the UK Stirling will be visiting the UK the w/c 13 May and has some availability later that week. If you are interested in engaging Stirling you can reach him via his website https://www.audiosystemsoptimized.com/
Great thanks for sharing. Reason for asking is that some listeners of the earlier Monaco TTs seem to feel it is a bit on the lean/cool side. I heard the Monaco 2.0 for the first time in Munich this year and was blown away...it was playing in two completely different systems (both unfamiliar to...
Tim
I will be selling my Brinkmann Le Grange which has been upgraded with sinus motor and ront tube power supply...it is very close to the current Brinkmann Balance which Bonzo reviewed so favourably in his recent tt shootout. I will be keeping my Basis superarm. If you are interested you can...
Hi I thought I saw a comment on one of the sites a few years back about the 1.5 being lean but I recall most comments being very favourable. The Munich show this year was the first time I had the opportunity to hear a GPA TT for myself and as previously mentioned I was seriously impressed...the...
Hi Tima thanks for taking the time to share your impressions of both TTs - much appreciated. Ive yet to see any negative reviews of the 2.0 whereas earlier iterations of the Monaco (1.0 and 1.5) seem to have generated quite polarised opinions - what interested me about Bonzo’s impressions were...
I upgraded my LeGrange some years ago by substituting the new sinus motor for the old papst motor and upgrading the original power supply to the ront so the performance of my TT will be closer to the balance v the stock Le Grange - how close who knows! There is no doubt the Brinkmann is a fine...
Thanks Tima. I certainly heard the GPA 2.0 do things my Brinkmann Le Grange does not do - Roy’s comment about “the competition sounding rounded, blurred and overweight” is interesting. While I wouldnt describe my Brinkmann as “overweight” it does not have the dynamics of the GPA nor the ability...
Sound advice. I certainly liked what I heard in Munich even allowing for unfamiliar system and sub optimal listening environment. I have read in some quarters that the earlier Monaco TTs have a less fleshed out sound than other TTs but the reviews I have read of the latest Monaco 2.0 do not...
Interesting review. I own a Brinkmann Le Grange with Ront power supply and was considering moving to a GPA Monaco 2.0. I heard the Monaco 2.0 in two rooms at Munich and really liked what I heard...image stablity, dynamics were in a different league IMO. I understand there are significant...
I second that...frst time I heard the GPA Monaco was in the Apertura room. I could tell straight away this is a very special turntable, imaging, placement of instruments and dynamics were amazing. As a Brinkman TT owner I was seriously impressed.
Hi Gian I have a Koetsu Coralstone mounted on a Basis Superarm 9 and it works great. I will be very interested to see your thoughts on the AF3 Premium as this is one of the turntables I had in mind to audition to hear if it is a step up from my current Brinkman Le Grange regards
Thanks all. Sammy interested that you changed the original wiring. I did wonder how good it is but remember AJ saying it was the best match for the arm. What made you decide to change and how would you characterise the difference v the original wire? Did you have to send the arm back to Basis to...
Hi all, has anyone heard the Basis Superarm 9 v the SAT arm in the same or similar set up? If so how would you characterise both arms? My reason for asking is currently I have a Basis Superarm 9 mounted on a Brinkmann Le Grange turntable (with Ront power supply plus Koetsu Coralstone cartridge)...
