I’ve read snippets of both sides for and against within other threads, but have come to no conclusion. So I’m opening up this thread on WBF with seasoned experienced members.
For better sonics, I’m trying to answer:
1) Do I need a cable cooker?
2) if so, beyond the initial, should I also...
Not sure how to separate the speakers from the electronics but the Gryphon Trident II Loudspeakers + Commander Pre + Apex Stereo amp sounded effortlessly great at the 2023 PAF.
Hawaii- promised my triplets a trip for High School Graduation, but then Covid hit so they couldn’t walk graduation. Last summer 2022 finally took them to Oahu and Maui. I was shocked on that Waikiki is upscale now. We spent time looking for the best poke - much fresher in Hawaii.
I’m glad...
I’ve been wondering for awhile:
SR seems to come out with their own unique tech. Since on WBF it’s been reported benefits from using multiple switches, I wondered what the change/benefit would be to add the SR switch to the NA Tempus switch? Perhaps there’s a different filtering scheme...
@Jambo
Many thanks. Sifting through these new audiophile switches was daunting. Along with NA switch I’ll get their Ethernet filter. Still deciding on the Ethernet cable.
On a side note, Synergistic Research has a network router here that you place in between your home router and audio...
Allow me to clarify, “significantly” superior - perhaps I should have used “subjectively”. I meant that the pointsource 3d sonic advantage is not good enough motivate others to displace 3d soundstages of other designs. True the pointsource should sound better, but it isn’t enough to warrant change.
Ha! I was the same for Wilsons. With all the positive reviews and the cutting edge tech, seems I “should” like it. I tried hard to like them at several dealers and audio shows but it just never resonated with me.
The OPs question seems to be point-source theoretically superior by coming from a single point vs subjective sonic speaker preferences.
The vast majority of speakers use separate transducers- tweeters, midrange. Many speaker manufacturers use third party transducers like from ScanSpeak and...
+1 @JackD201 - simply a preference or lack thereof
Personally, just like Wilsons, top end Focal speakers never resinated with me sonically or visually. I like Magico and YG. Ended up with a Vimberg
Network Acoustics muon Streaming Cable
Synergistic Research Atmosphere X Reference
JCAT Signature LAN
I’m leaning towards the SR because a forum member demoed many and says it’s the best in his system
@Audire - thanks for posting. Seems like Albedo Metamorphosis is somewhat a sonic bargain as it compares with much pricier cables. I was targeting a silver speaker cable like the AQ William Tell Silver or the Siltech Classic Legion 880, but the Albedo seems like a better choice.
I’ve read several complaints about JL Audio’s reliability - needing to send it in for a fix. I am a big fan of low maintenance/reliability and JL subwoofers make me nervous to purchase, otherwise JL would be my top choice.
Still debating, not urgent - bigger fish to fry - working on major remodeling including flooring, but am hesitant to move out 4months after packing 30yrs of stuff. We’re looking at piecemeal options. Also, I plan to move to a larger home within 3-5yrs, so after speaker set-up and room...
I have the Vimberg Mino D speakers and the Constellation Inspiration Pre and Stereo electronics. My amp was reported lacking in bottom energy slam, luckily it’s not a major sonic issue for me. Adding a pair of powered subwoofers would: solve this slam problem, offer better bass extension, and...
Great thread - answers the questions of the benefits and performance differences at different price points. Guess I’m getting the Audio Dharma.
I was surprised that cable cooking is recommended beyond the initial cable break in, that the manufacturer recommends periodic reconditioning of...
Putting together my first high-end analog+digital chain. Unexpected unplanned expenditures for noise reduction is driving me crazy. SR fuses then Quantum wallet emptying fuses. Furutech outlets then Quantum... Audiophile switches, linear power supplies, ethernet regenerators/filters, ionizer...
While researching for the best performance USB cables for my own system, I stumbled upon David Laboga Expression USB cables brand on this WBF thread:

I’m also a big believer on getting the stylus aligned to the groove correctly regardless of cantilever or cart body position.
If cartridges were assembled by computer, then I would expect close to perfect alignment of cantilever to body and stylus to cantilever. However, cartridges that are...
Originally I was targeting a used 4point or a Reed 3P. Ended up with a new 4point because I wanted Kondo wiring. Feels financially foolish to purchase both. Then again, maybe this hobby’s spending is already a bit foolish. Quoted to my wife $60k all in for both analog+ digital, I’ve spent...
Thanks all. I’ll get the SME3012R as it is within my budget…..whatever that is. It will also scratch my curiosity itch.
Feeling both smart and dumb for my latest purchase of a Koetsu Coralstone-D: Smart because Coralstone seems to be the best sounding Koetsu stone cart, it’s being discontinued...
