Hi Ed,
I think if you specified your higher purpose we could focus better on an answer.
Are you looking for a system to take on an airplane? Play at the office in a cubicle? Listen while working on the computer at home? Be your main home critical listening system in a space-constrained...
Hi Spirit of Music,
Thank you.
I retired, sold my stereo and left wbf about five years ago to go sailing. Now I am back, at least temporarily, and thinking about a new system.
SOM, I think your first step should be to find and listen to the new Zu's to see if they resolve the cabinet issues you now hear. This will allow you to see what is possible and from there you can judge whether pursuing an upgrade would be worth it. The new Zu's would probably also allow you to...
Yes, indeed. It becomes a question of conflicting values which cut to the core of human values. A contradiction in terms in many ways. I've been through the exercise in a serious, but hypothetical (academic), way.
Working on it:
Bartok: Concerto for Orchestra, Fritz Reiner, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Analog Productions (RCA Living Stereo), DSD 2.8 MHz 64fs download
Stravinsky: Firebird Suite (Complete Ballet), Antal Durati, London Symphony Orchestra, Mercury Living Presence, DSD 2.8 MHz 64fs...
I had a friend who was on the President's Science Advisory Council for President Reagan in the 1980's. He said preservation of the human race was an underlying motivation for the space program, at least for them, and one of the underlying reasons they supported it. There are other more proximate...
At last! A Coincident owner! I am interested in these systems but, of course, there is no dealer network and I know no one who has one.
How do you like yours and how do they compare to others? Are they keepers?
Just came back from the audiologist having ear impressions made for new in-ear-monitors. Also got a hearing test. Have normal hearing up to about 2 kHz and mild loss on up to 8 kHz where the test stopped. Considered not bad for 69 years!
My Astell&Kern AK380 DAP has a 20 band parametric...
Arthur Pizarro is available from Linn Records as hiRez downloads. I recommend the complete piano works by Ravel, Volume 1 & 2. Also, there is a smattering of tracks available on Tidal:
I've always assumed that raw analog and digital copies of such historical recordings would be made and archived. Is this not the case? And maybe they are not as good as the originals even now?
I suspect most people participating in the forum are "above average." So, I going say yes about the positive assumptions you could make about me and make the same assumptions about you. You can guess that I and many others are qualified to understand your position. It's a safe bet I didn't miss...
Your attempts to stifle scruitiny of your device are wrong on so many levels.
First, there is no such thing as bad publicity.
Second, as you observe from this thread, Amir has considerable creativity, competence and credibility and knows how to use it. He will get one of your devices...
Most transportable system for plane, bus, train is phone + IEMs (in ear monitors). IEMs seal out the noise.
Best portable system, for when you get there, is Astell&Kern AK380 player, 384GB hiRez music with Focal Utopia headphones.
Native storage is 256GB + microSD card also up to 256GB. Total 512GB.
Tidal not available offline and exclusive to iOS and Android apps.

I think you may be right. Integration at the operating system level is a primary key in my experience. In my consulting business I use 5 different platforms--smart phone, tablet, laptop, desktop and server. The last three are powered by microsoft operating systems. The first two are Android...
