Hi @skids929, Don't have any insight sorry other that he has a completed version available on his store tab. Most likely single-ended RCA version but definitely worth asking him about it!
Best wishes in the decision making
I run a 156 with an Ultimate cable and find the mechanical connection secure. I do run it in a vertical orientation with the freestanding base.
How ever I understand your comment re IEC 's and other comments on cables and may well try to see what can be achieved.
Thank you Gerald I will look at the Swoboda mods as I like to dream about spending money :), but really very happy with the stock SONY unit as is. I will get a better clock on my CEC and I hope improve it some more and have some different flavours between the 2 transports.
Also a sympathetic...
Hi Charles,
I dont want to overdo it as the comparison to the 501 may be more similar. The Medus I was certainly still living the experience of its ability long after the music stopped.
But surprised yes at the Abbas and impressed with its performance in the company it was keeping definitely...
Hi Gerald,
Very excited to hear about the new Abbas project and look forward to hearing more!!
My curiosity with the PCM63 may end up with me on a waiting list if it becomes a production model.
I agree the love affair with the 3.2 is to be a long one with much satisfaction.
With tube rolling...
I have run an integrated from it successfully. I will try it with the mono's when they arrive and listen. My feeling with amplifiers is they can be more dynamic straight to the mains usually. But its the synergy and the listening that will tell you. If you are running some power hungry solid...
Using my ears to get there of course, I came to the same conclusion mine is staying also.
I dont have high expectations of it it just does what it says it does!
Only recommendation I can make is to start with the ultimate cable. The encouraging thing about the puritan cable is the utilitarian...
Even use one of the ultimate cables in a Gigawatt PC3 ***+ running in the supply to digital chain with great results.
The big 20A cable is feeding the PSM156 currently on AV duty in stand up mode. It will soon be reunited in the main system with 2 ultimate cables for some mono's.
Like the...
2023 latest price I think is a little more and looking forward to exploring one in early 2024.
The Thoeress Full Function Pre with remote looks to be an interesting option for @Tangram and less than the Enhancer price tag, a great one box solution.
I opted for the Dual Funtion Pre and Phono...
Certainly not going to disagree with that. I was really reflecting on my experience within the audition. After I calmed down from the streaming experience, I can enjoy CD's again and wont be giving them up. Just 2 different flavors in my set up and may try other CD transports.
The gentleman auditioning the MU1 has many CD's and noted that Vinyl still can have the edge but left me wondering about the the rarities aspect.
Certainly when I go down the Streaming path I would maintain the hard media, more particularly the vinyl.
What struck me with the MU1 experience was...
Streaming has crossed my mind several times recently and I wanted to share a recent experience.
I am in the process of changing a Vinyl set up, sadly neglected since discovering Abbas DAC's.
So I am reliant on CD's to enjoy music, with no real streaming options that can take advantage of my...
Yes, words from Abbas on the U1 have that effect!!
"While the TDA1541 still excels in transmitting the human voice, the competition is now neck and neck. The clavichord with the new DAC sounds unusually clear and colorful."
I am curious too but am thoroughly enjoying the "human voice" on the...
Thank you Charles.
It has been a journey and am truly happy and impressed with the 3.2SE. It is a larger sound with the 6080 output but the observations from some regarding the 2.4 and 2.3, 2.0 etc indicate that its Abbas's TDA1541 implementation that he has mastered.
It is my first time...
Very much agree.
My other half sings not professionally but in several choral groups of a standard that is high and we have a small piano in a humble shared listening space.
What interests me listing to discussions with other musician friends is the observations of live performances. The...
Interesting comments on the silver. I like both and change them out every so often. The silver for me can offer more detail but the copper more real particulaly with the Abbas SPDIF. Can be useful with different recordings and genre but mainly for a change.
Very encouraging results all round...
Hi Gerald,
Thank you for the exciting review.
I think I will be very happy with the 16 bit.
If I was treading the path of higher res the Weiss would be in my sites but fear of exhaustion might get me to an Abbas PCM63
Definitely have a preference for horns for musical experience and agree...
Hi Charles,
Unfortunately not yet. I ordered a power cable to add to my DAC order some time ago but may have complicated by adding a USB and another power cable to my wish list. I think Abbas is busy but also Kyiv has had some heavy disruptions again in the last week or so I hope just delayed...
Hi Gerald,
It does get my interest, as Abbas has spoken about PCM63 positively in the past but not so much as to excite curiosity of a more powerful output stage.
I only hope the owner of the signature version U1 checks in here to comment.
Still anticipating the TDA1541A experience for me...
Who Are Your Favorite DAC Designers?
I lost track on the above thread but cant recall Daniel Weiss or Abbas Zulfugarov being mentioned?
This must be a mistake.
Separate note on an article from April on the DAC U1. Hopefully we see a U2 at some point...
Couldn't agree more and hold the same interest in the Weiss and obviously the Abbas.
Congratulation @gerihifi , thank you for sharing your pics and look forward to hearing more.
Looking good!!
Thanks jespera.
It does seem more appropriate to use an Abbas one and dont really want to spend time comparing. Whilst every system may behave differently I am happier going with the designers ears that know, and of course users also :)
Thanks I will consult my surgeon and avoid kick boxing as I was warned.
Will get a groove master on order!!
The whole TT is looking terrific, Music will be a great reward in rehab, my experience anyway. Thanks again.
Wishing you well for this. I am post 15 weeks and loving the new titanium interconnect vast improvement in SQ and ability to flip vinyl. :)
More good News was wondering if there were any modifications needed?
