    S7 on order

@DeYoung. Well done. Your system looks amazing. You'll find your new S7s will take hundreds of hours to sound their best. I think my S5s are still improving after almost 5 years and about 2500 hours. The synergy with the Accuphase gear is wonderful. Enjoy. Here's a photo of my spartan and...

    S7 on order

Congratulations on choosing the S7s. I've spent considerable time listening to a mate's pair powered by Accuphase A-200s. I think Accuphase and Magico S speakers are well matched. I have S5s matched to an A-70 power amp. My previous amp was a Vitus RI-100. While the Vitus/Magico pairing was...

    Which SACD PLAYER ?

@awsmone I'm surprised you say you won't be going the Accuphase route after having 800 and 900 series versions. Would you mind saying why? Having had Esoteric, Vitus, Sony, Oppo and earlier Accuphase the DP-560 I have now is the best SACD player I've had in my system.

What to buy now? Need a new USB DAC.

Why not opt for the AD-50 option card for your Accuphase E-600? Should be less than €1k. http://www.accuphase.com/model/dac-50.html If you want a standalone DAC I'm listening to an Accuphase DP-560 ATM. It's by far the best DAC I've tried in my system and I've had a few. I'm not sure what they...

Is MQA good enough to get Analog Guys to enjoy it? Or still cause Digital Fatigue?

This is pretty much exactly how I have found MQA. One caveat however is the DAC. I have tried Tidal App (on MacBook Air) unfolding MQA to 96/24 to my Vitus DAC. I then tried Tidal MQA via Roon to my Mytek Brooklyn DAC decoding to 192/24. Now you would expect the fully unfolded file to sound the...

Is MQA good enough to get Analog Guys to enjoy it? Or still cause Digital Fatigue?

Fiddle Faddle, I couldn't agree more with your wish to improve the production end of the music we listen to. I think we all agree that improvements at the beginning of the chain are bound to make the biggest differences. The problem is , we have no control over what happens in the studio or...

Is MQA good enough to get Analog Guys to enjoy it? Or still cause Digital Fatigue?

It is slightly lossy but only in the inaudible high frequencies. The lossy part had my OCDs going crazy_____until I listened to it. I won't attempt to get into a technical discussion because I'm not very good at that stuff. I usually go on what sounds good to me.

Is MQA good enough to get Analog Guys to enjoy it? Or still cause Digital Fatigue?

Ahh great. Someone else who has actually listened to MQA. You probably have much better vinyl gear than I do. I find MQA and vinyl pretty close SQ-wise.

Is MQA good enough to get Analog Guys to enjoy it? Or still cause Digital Fatigue?

Having read through this thread I see only two posts from people who have actually listened to MQA. There is a lot of conjecture in this thread about how CD quality is good enough but really you owe it to yourselves to have a listen to MQA. I reckon you'll soon change your tune. ;) From my...

    Newbie Magico Question

Luckily replacing my S5 tweeter should be a lot more straightforward than the Q5 tweeters.

    Newbie Magico Question

I studied the Scanspeak website closely before deciding to order a genuine Magico replacement. I have a feeling the Magico tweeter is closely based on the D3004/664000 tweeter but without the grille. I would have had to buy a pair of the Scanspeaks and replace both tweeters so the cost was...

    Newbie Magico Question

I managed to do this to my S5 tweeter. One evening recently, after a few reds, I was eager to listen and pulled the (magnetised) grille off too vigorously and managed to catch the tweeter with the corner of the grille. A very expensive bottle of wine.:( I'm just waiting for the...

Probably a silly question - Does an aluminum speaker cabinet attract more noise?

So are you guessing the change in resistance of the different length cables is the cause?

Manufacturers forced to stop SACD players production

So it looks like when the drive dies in my Vitus RCD-101 I will only have DAC functionality. Or has Sony salted away a large stockpile of spare parts? Whatever happens I will source a couple of spare drives if possible.

    Magico S7 on the website

The Magico home page shows a new S7. There isn't any specific information on the Magico site but it looks like an S version of the M project. As a happy S5 owner I'd love some more information. http://www.magico.net/index/index.php Edit: forgot to paste link

Initial (and positive) impressions on the Mach2 server

Have a look at Audirvana Plus as a player as well as Amarra. It's a lot easier to use than PM and sounds similar. I've tried most players and have settled on A+ for the moment

    Pure music or Decibel?

Not with Lion. Previous OS's allow integer mode.

    Pure music or Decibel?

+1 Audirvana Plus on demo at the moment. I'm hearing my music in a totally new light. Much more revealing than Bitperfect, iTunes, Clementine and less hassle to use than Pure Music. I'll certainly go ahead with the purchase.
