My dual 18" took over a year to build & deliver. The piano gloss finish on bamboo took a long time to get perfect. I don't think that year long waits are typical at Funk Audio. Best wishes with your new sub! :)
I don't have personal experience with PSA subs, nor have I read much about them...
My first Funk sub was a dual 15" in Java Bamboo veneer -
I don't have that one anymore. I'm sure that you'll be happy with your dual 12". Nathan always does a fine job no matter how you want it configured. What veneer did you choose?
Cheers.
Tom, if you were an ordinary WBF member I would just ignore your posts & move on. Given that you're a mod however, that makes it different. I have the impression that you just don't like objectivists coming in and challenging any of the claims that are made here. Better that WBF just be a...
You seem to forget that my posts asked members to provide evidence for the implausible claims that were being made for these lamps. No evidence was forthcoming, including from you. I don't necessarily need to have personal experience with something to be able to rightly claim with a high...
Your statement "you have ZERO experience with salt lamps, yet you are spewing your thoughts" was more than just "wondering". It was hostile. You don't speak that way to other folks who comment on things that they have no experience with. Just sayin'...
That said, the claims being made in...
No need for the attitude Tom.
A salt lamp is a light bulb enclosed in a hollowed out block of salt. What is the plausible mechanism by which somthing of that construction could have a positive effect on an audio system? What is the non-anecdotal evidence for it? It was stated early on that...
That's just speculation, of course. There's a big difference between hypothesizing a plausible reason for a hoped for result, and actually measuring lower EMI noise.
I have a Greenwave Broadband EMI Meter. I also just ordered a Himalayan salt lamp. (Since I haven't had much luck finding...
Are you aware of any credible data / measurements from a trustworthy source that would support your claim that a Himalayan salt lamp reduces EMI in an audio system that's sitting nearby?
I got one of those lamps for my mother a few years back. They're attractive. It's just bogus to claim that they improve audio in some way. I'll add "in my opinion", but some things I just know to be true without having to scour the internet for research data... ;)
So Himalayan Salt lamps improve sound, and they do so by drying out the air? "They act as giant dessicants , reducing moisture in the air and thus air density and we all know that sound travels sluggishly thru thick air." Let's think about this...
First off, do they actually dry out the air...
Interesting article in Wikipedia on the digital vs. vinyl debate. Some excerpts from that below.

Comparison of analog and digital recording
Sound can be recorded and stored and played using either digital or analog...
If it's a *sighted* listening test, then your beliefs are definitely part of the equation.

Well, there's a difference between hearing differences only over longer time frames, and just believing that we can only hear differences over long time frames. That's what the test was designed to determine. We'll agree to disagree on this one... :)
Cheers.

"LONG TERM LISTENING: A lot of blind testing involves switching between A and B, or replaying music tracks after something is changed. Critics of these tests argue that’s not the best way to evaluate audio gear. They say...
If somebody, anybody, can hear a difference in a properly controlled blind listening test, then there is a difference. I'm sure that Nousaine (RIP) would have agreed. Most wild-sounding (to objectivists) audiophile claims are not backed up by objective measurements or blind testing done by a...
I'm pretty sure that the answer is "No" regardless of the listener's age. Of course I'm open to changing my beliefs if either of those audiophile tweaks (or any others) were found to improve sound based on objective measurements and/or blind testing done by a trustworthy independent testing...
Hi Mike,
I said in my previous post that "{smearing} issues are best resolved with acoustic treatments and DSP room correction". We're on the same page that room acoustics needs to be resolved first. Room correction products supplement acoustic treatments. They don't replace them.
It sounds...
"Smearing" is a subjective description of audible distortions in the time domain. Those issues are best resolved with acoustic treatments and DSP room corrections of the sort that a Trinnov Altitude, for example, would make. (There are other products that also do these things, but I'm more...
A better question is "Does it sound more natural in blind listening tests?".

The Altitude does have analog inputs (RCA & XLR).
So the Altitude can correct the frequency response, phase response, group delay, and impulse response of each speaker at the main listening position, provide an optimal house curve, and give one the ability to upmix for immersive...
Nice theater. It's not even close to the same level as your two channel system however. The speakers in your theater (Revel Performa F30's - $3500), for example, aren't in any way comparable to the Evolution Acoustics MM7's ($200k) in your two channel room, and as you acknowledge, the room...
The digital room correction in my pre/pro corrects the frequency response, phase response, group delay, and impulse response of each speaker at my listening position. It also allows me to create a pleasing house curve. It seems a little odd that audiophiles attempt to tweak all those audio...
I'm a home theater guy so my audio equipment gets far more use reproducing movie soundtracks than music, although I do occasionally listen to music too. That said, are my speakers perfect for me?
My HT has four Paradigm Signature S8 tower speakers, their C5 center channel speaker, an old...
