    Tube pre amplifiers

Lol there is a difference over solid state a fullness not as artificial sounding much like the difference between digital and vinyl playback. Or live broadcasts on a good fm station. That doesn't really exist around here anymore.

    Tube pre amplifiers

The very thing out of the three brands I like about audio reseach is I maybe able to sell it if I don't like it. I also agree with the thought that they are at a discount with what is going on at the company. Also how would you stack the 6 up compared to some of the earlier ones. I found a...

    Tube pre amplifiers

I am wondering about switching my pre amplifier on my main system. I have a tube based front end going into an Ayre k1xe then to a set of recapped mark levinson 33h monos. I was thinking about going to a tube preamplifier. I am wanting the tube beauty and the bigger sound stage may be...

    Sophia (blue) EL-34-ST Tubes

Well you were right I didn't give the gold lion 6922s enough break in time They seems to be changing back and forth. From bright and edgy to ok. Lots of bounce in the music. Better timing than the reflectors. Give them some more time and see what happens. Perhaps put the set of four in the...

    Sophia (blue) EL-34-ST Tubes

If you want to try a set of cheap reflecktor 6922 tubes at parts connection Chris Johnson bought out the personal stash of the arc engineer who past away. They are marked sovtec but the structure is the same as the reflecktor 6922s. I have a couple of those sets in a drawer as well. The...

Good ol’ honest engineering - the world best cd transport from years ago

I have a friend who is an audio file and he made his living as a technician. Around half of his work back in the day was replacing lasers in Sony transports.

For sire the hardness levels of the stone would change the sonic signature. I offered wondered how stone would sound better than dense wood. I have wood planks of paduk rosewood and purple heart and each one sounds different when the preamplifier or sources are placed on top of them...

    Please recommend some Monoblock Amps

If you want tubes but it doesn't sound that way I would look at a pair of used canary reference amplifiers. But they have 16 300b tubes between them. A major bill when you need a new set. You will not find them analytical if my memory serves me correctly my ca 160s certainly are not...

    Sophia (blue) EL-34-ST Tubes

I tend to agree about the family sound. I have a pair of the 6sn7 and 6sn7 as well as the kt88s all sohpia s, in one integrated amplifier. As I put each set in it got better at each step. I have three sets of reflector 6922 equivalents I like them as well on a personal level I don't...

    Sophia (blue) EL-34-ST Tubes

I was rather excited about all I read about the gold lions and read a few places that they were the best currently made tubes. So I bought a set of KT77s a quad od 6922 and a pair of ecc88 s as well. I tried all these in a number of places and everyone is sitting in a box. I thought I had...

The one fellow who I buy stuff from loves gold lion kt77s I always wondered why. Perhaps I know now. His audio store is his hobby he also writes for Hong Kong audio magazines. There are no budget limits there. Lol

    Sophia (blue) EL-34-ST Tubes

Interesting I tried gold lion kt77 s in my canary mono blocks and really didn't like them in that amp. It seemed hard snd brittle. Bright as well. I have a cheap set of electro harmonix el34s in there no it is far better In my ca 160s I also have s set of ps vane el34 s that I have not tried...

What happened to sound by singer? Lyric hi-fi? Two huge dealers you can Google that and read it for yourself. Not hard to observe the trend. Look at the description about new items that have sparkle lol thirty years ago that was called bright why has that become a trend? Think about that...

ARC announces price increase effective Mid-March '24

My thoughts are it is a hobby in decline there are very few people under sixty and way less under 50 years old. The products have all seemed to have skyrocketed over the past 25 years. A 100k 25 years ago bought one of the best speakers made now that takes 7 to 10 times as much. Every area...

I bought the roksan pair years ago. I really didn't care for the one bit dac. I finally mated it with a chord dac and I was surprised at how that pairing worked. Lol I always thought I guess it looks good just don't play it. I ended up quite happy with it.
