Hey John, my daughter lives in Melbourne. I visited years ago and decided I could quite happily live there, too. What's 'good' and 'better', etc etc is all so subjective and dependent on so many different things, it comes down to only one in the end - personal preference. I found the MSB...
Absolutely - horrible compared to when powered by SBooster; harsher, thinner. With the power supply it becomes fuller, less harsh, bigger soundstage, more air, better imaging..
SBooster do refer to their supplies as LPS in their brochure. Below, see page 2 and para' titled 'Why a Linear Power Supply from SBooster'.

Yes I get that, Steve. If Futureshop (and several other dealers) are mis-describing the unit then they’re breaking UK law. Which you’d think would be unlikely. But, you’re quite right that SBooster don’t refer to the unit as an LPS in the manual. So I’ve emailed them asking them to clarify. I’ll...
There are references to this excellent LPS peppered around WBF; I just wanted to briefly remark on my experience, which also included their service.
I put an SBooster on a Matrix X-SPDIF Mkll, converting USB from a Melco unit to the i2s of my Metronome Le Dac 2. I'd already found the i2s...
Hi DLS, superb cables, I'm sure. Thank you for the offer. Yes, being on Mud Island, with you Stateside, is a bit of a drag but let me send you a message; assuming I can work out how..
EDIT: Gryphon advise against Litz and co-ax' style speaker cables on their amps. By extension, I'd assume that...
Indeed
Thanks for the notes, Dave. Yes, the 'body' I refer to likely is actually detail-smearing 'warmth' because the detail and presence drops off; but I find the soundstage is more 3D with the OE plates. I prefer the presence and detail but don't like the perceived slight reduction in bass...
I haven't. But I have, this morning, dropped the white cable onto the Low post per advice from Scalectric above. Very pleased to experience more air and dimensionality - or it might be the change back to OE plates. Should have tried the configuration while the silver cable was still in. When my...
After more listening I find I won't keep the silver wire in place. In my set-up, whilst there's undeniably more presence in the room and more detail, the price of a slight loss in body in the mid bass region and the occasional slightly hot leading edge is enough to send me in a different...
Thanks Scalectric. I've connected the jumpers in the same configuration as Sonus faber connected its plates, but yes, I'll definitely experiment with moving the white cable to Low
Thanks Dave, I will investigate WBT's for sure and corrosion element noted. My effort isn't elegant, though it's not in view and was primarily experimental to see what silver jumpers did. If I conclude to keep it over the solid copper version, I'll seek to make it a more refined fit.

In the quest for optimising my sound, having addressed just about every area over the last few years and having just run-in a pair of Sonus Faber Serafinos, I wondered what could be achieved by replacing the OE jumper plates - I don't bi-wire.
In my antique office Linn system I have some budget...
I recently wrote a review of the Metronome Le Dac 2, here. After getting a couple of hundred hours on it, my brilliant Tiverton-based dealer took possession of the just-launched, partnering Le Streamer - which I couldn't help but borrow for a few days for evaluation.
I'm normally given to...
Apologies for not writing the review of the Lab12 Ref' that I promised. TBH I couldn't find the motivation. It was 'ok'; perhaps a little more than ok bearing in mind its pricepoint. But, in my set-up and room the music didn't move me. Transients were slow, detail didn't impress and I...
Check out my new review of the Metronome Le Dac 2 which I've just paired with Gryphon Essence - liquid, dense AND big airy. I went through several DACs in my quest and found Dac 2 the most accomplished at the price point.
..and I must wonder what’s inside mine! Perhaps I’ll drop them a line. I’m just curious. It doesn’t make any material difference, especially at this point.
After the expiry of my Resonnessence Mirus Pro, I've been on a DAC hunt. In the absence of a used Kalliope & after several demo's of several options, I finally put my money down on the Metronome Le Dac 2. I've not found a single owner review of this lovely DAC - so here's mine.
Le Dac 2 weighs...
Sonus Faber say this fleck is 'part of the natural variations in the wood grain...they're a characteristic of natural wood of SF handmade loudspeakers..'
Will do.
Ah, no problem. I've not heard the internal Essence dac - same unit as Diablo, I think. I imagine it's perfectly acceptable, but I want the very best I can afford and that should take me beyond the modular dac. Your tt set-up looks pretty stunning :)
