I'd recommend also 2 lesser know but very interesting (IMO) performances of Rachmaninov 3rd concreto:
Gavrilov / Lazarev with USSR Symphony (Melodia / EMI) 1976, and Gieseking w/Barbirolli 1939 Broadcast issued by M&A
yeah, on the back of the tapes :
" Halbspuraufnahme Studer A807 oder Telefunken M15A vom Digital-Master, 44.1 kHz "
half-track recording Studer A807 or Telefunken M15A from the digital master, 44.1 kHz

The issues are: they are not exactly 300B and in a most amplifiers designed for WE300B specs. they may not run in the optimal oper. parameters.
The inital runs of the tubes have some bugs ( as expected from early production, not sure...
ER300B ?
I bought a pair from True Audiophile in January. One of the tubes was hugely non-linear, it has somewere between +20 to+30dB more distortion then anything else: we300b (1999), Emission Labs, 2nd ER300b.
True Audiophile folks replaced this pair. Next pair I got in Match. About 4 month...

Mike,
Sorry, I'm not explain myself clear enough. Nothing about labels or putting anyone down ... I'm myself guilty very much of often listening artistically mediocre performances because recording is great, finding boring performance compensated by great sounds, Is it music ?
All the...
Mike,
I think the issue with "audio site" and entire "audio" approach is that goal of the audio system is not to deliver musical ideas, moods etc. but impress listener with "sound". In this case it is practically unimportant what to listen to as soon as it technically great recording. im not...
Steve, you could be. right, about someone pee in my Grape Nuts...I already 10 times regretted posting my comment.
Nevertheless, the real serious question is, introduction to a new music, classical chamber in this case, should it come first from from listening great iconic performances, Beaux...
That is the most amazing thing, classical music review by someone unfamiliar with Bach Chaconne, Beethoven Ghost trio, Bach sonatas for solo cello etc.*
Seriously, *do you really believe Beethoven is about how violin sounds via latest Lamm? **
