    New Diablo 333

Redwick, have you got either of the modules installed in the 333? I had the PS2 phono in my 300 and then transplanted it into my Essence pre. The newer phono is supposed to be quite good isn't it? I see that it has xlr connectors, and also the dip switches are external - a great idea.

    New Diablo 333

I imagine that you're absolutely right wrt to your comments regarding upgrade of the Pandora to Commander vs Mephisto to Apex. I've no plans to change to Apex. I'll certainly post some comments when I change to Commander, but as mentioned above - it's not an imminent upgrade. I actually want to...

    New Diablo 333

If that's directed to me, then Mephisto - I part exchanged the Essence for the Mephisto. The Commander isn't an imminent upgrade though, just being planned.

    New Diablo 333

Interesting comments redwick, please do post up more when you've had it for a few more days. I'd really like to hear the 333 as it seems to get positive press from what I've heard. I would expect the 333 to be a significant jump from the 300, as it should given the large price increase. I had...

You're right - definitely a rare beast to admit that you are happy with your system! As you should be, it looks great!

HumminGuru - an inexpensive desktop RCM

Quick update on ownership and pretty heavy use. The unit failed about a week ago: records were no longer turning, but the ultrasonic was working. I sent an email to the customer support with no real expectations. I have to say that I was very pleased to get an extremely rapid response, and...

Help with Valhalla 2 1.75m DIN/LEMO tonearm cable

That makes sense. If it were me, I'd just treat the Nordost cable as a bonus item and sell it as you were planning on doing, or just hang on to it in case you change your arm in the future (I just kept my previous Din to LEMO for that reason, but it's not a very expensive cable like yours). You...

Help with Valhalla 2 1.75m DIN/LEMO tonearm cable

So the TecnoArm must be RCA rather than Din? I had Din to LEMO with a Bergmann Modi turntable (Odin arm), but when I bought a Galder (also Odin arm) it came with RCA, so I needed another LEMO cable. Annoying. I had 2 LEMO connectors with my Pandora but no cables attached. I hope you get it...

Help with Valhalla 2 1.75m DIN/LEMO tonearm cable

Presumably you have the Legato card in your Pandora? I have the same setup and have found the LEMO connector a pain, and not one that I was expecting - just because I've needed to have cables specially terminated for it and assumed that it would be XLR for some reason (as the stand alone module...

Any Bergmann "Galder" owners here ?

It's good that the Modi is shipping with a record weight now. Mine definitely didn't have one and I felt that it was a bit of an oversight and really should be supplied with one. Slipmats, I tried the thin neoprene type one that it came with, then felt (which was fine), then cork (as can be seen...

Looks fantastic too! Love the black. Such a simple and elegant design. I went for the matt sliver alu/black for my Modi, but yours looks really nice in black/black, thank you for sharing a photo. Are you pleased with it? Hopefully you like it as much as I did mine - great bits of kit IMO. Out of...

Any Bergmann "Galder" owners here ?

I'm also in the UK, and my Galder signature and Odin also came from Nintronics - I absolutely love Bergmann products and was fortunate enough to have Johnnie himself come and set my turntable up at home! It is paired with a Hanna Umami red cartridge, which comes in well under 5k and I bought...

    Record Weights: Weight vs Material

Presumably a clamp (threaded or similar fixation) doesn't need to be particularly heavy? It would seem intuitive that a weight would require a heavy material of some sort. I've used both threaded clamps and weights on the TT that I've had, and neither method really fixes the issues of a slightly...

Any Bergmann "Galder" owners here ?

Excellent - I hope that you're just as pleased with yours as I have been mine! That's tricky regarding the difference between Odin and Thor as I have only seen and heard Odin tonearms, on Modi, Galder, and Galder Signature turntables. Looking on the bergmann website there doesn't appear to be a...

Any Bergmann "Galder" owners here ?

I think that bergmann products are very solidly made, so presumably any failures are more likely to be with the power supply/air pump box (although this is pure speculation and it never crossed my mind that this was likely) - perhaps Philip O Hanlon or another dealer could give you some insight...

Any Bergmann "Galder" owners here ?

Not Magne, but until very recently I owned a Modi with Odin arm, which doesn't look to be dramatically different? For what it's worth, I absolutely loved my Modi and though that it was excellent! Everything about it, from the solid, simple, elegant, and slightly brutalist minimalism of the...

HumminGuru - an inexpensive desktop RCM

Quick update for my HumminGuru, and at a guesstimate 50-60 LPs cleaned so far. Just changed the water filter, photo is old filter with new filter ready to go in - what a difference! N.B. the water is changed much more regularly than the filter. Almost all of these LPs had been cleaned with...

HumminGuru - an inexpensive desktop RCM

I've cleaned around 30 odd LPs now with the HumminGuru and overall I have to say that I'm impressed. Before I bought this I was using a Pro-Ject VC-S2 vacuum machine with a citrus/distilled water mixture - seen next to my new HumminGuru. The HG came with a free cover and 'little bottle' of...

A question of DAC's, misunderstanding, and deciding on whether I need one - comments please!

Thanks ecwl, lots to think about in that post. I think that you're right about problem 1, I very rarely listen to CDs and typically just find the master version of the album on Tidal via the Lumin. I probably have around 400 CDs at a guess. You're also partially right about problem 2 although I...

This is the Schiit Yggdrasil? Thanks for the recommendation. Does it sound impressive 'as is' or does it necessarily require a reclocker? This is certainly an area of HiFi where I'm well out of my depth.

Thank you both for your comments, sounds like the YBA should stay and be used as a transport then. To keep the Lumin X1 or does it make sense to use a cheaper Lumin with a cheaper onboard DAC chip and route through a better standalone DAC? System is Bergmann Modi/Odin TT/arm, Hana Umami...

A question of DAC's, misunderstanding, and deciding on whether I need one - comments please!

I mostly listen to vinyl, and to a lesser extent digital. I have a YBA Genesis 4 CD player and a Lumin X1 streamer (having previously had the D1 and been impressed enough with the X1 to upgrade). The CD player gets used the least although I do have a decent library of CDs. The amplification is...

Antileon Evo paired with Tube linestage ?

Sorry to continue to derail your thread Thieliste. Wow, just looked the Horizon up on Google - fantastic looking thing! Really like the aesthetic of Lampizator, and their products get stellar reviews too! You must be pleased with it. I was tempted by their VP4 Phono stage, still am to be honest.

Antileon Evo paired with Tube linestage ?

I really shouldn't listen to the Commander and Apex, it'll only start the inevitable process of justifying the upgrade! Right now though, I'm more than happy with what I have. Although I've not listened to Antileon I do think that the Essence/Zena pre and power is a bit of a sweet spot in terms...

Antileon Evo paired with Tube linestage ?

Thanks, as per Down Under, it would be interesting if you hear any more. I had an Essence pre and power before changing to Pandora and Mephisto - both very good IMO but I really did like the Essence, which is the same as Zena if I understand correctly?

Thank you - and despite the slow reply, I have decided to go ahead and order a HumminGuru. I'll follow the collective wisdom, and specifically, Neil's posts re the cleaning technique and solution. Will post back with my experience once it arrives.
