John DeVore on the Grey Market and OCD Mikey

I unsubscribed from OCD mikey’s you tube channel way back. I dont find his content balanced. He is generally condescending and portrays as if he is doing everyone a favour without any vested interest. This is just my view. I saw the video and if it’s true, am not surprised at all……..well there...

Zero Distortion: Visit to Rhapsody Dallas

Great write up, Kedar! The Piliums on the Diesis would have made for an excellent compare and reference point. loved the videos!

Robert Harley makes efficient use of his time.

Yes I have read the reviews. I have also listened to them, though in show conditions. I love their electronics which is evident from the fact that I have been using them now for 15 years. I still feel one needs to live with the electronics/components for sometime ( or listen to them in different...

Robert Harley makes efficient use of his time.

From what I know, speaking to Dieter himself ( this was a while back when he was alive) and to a few others in the company who I have known personally for a while, Burmester doesn’t give out equipment on long term loans. I obviously don’t know for sure if this is true but I do know that they are...

What's Best? Soulution, CH Precision, Vitus, or Ayre?

……and I heard the system a few months back with Ked. The learning for me, above all, was how well the system played in a very small room ( when professionally set up and dialed in), completely belying expectation. I also learnt a bit about ‘gain-staging’. There was no boom, overhang. Just clean...

V.Y.G.E.R indian signature & VYDA cables.

thanks to Ked organising it, I had the good fortune of listening to these speakers (probably the same white ones) at Pino’s workshop outside Rome In June. the system was playing streamed music from a computer through some rather modest electronics. To say it sounded fantastic is an...

Classification of some top SS amps (brands)

My Burmester 911mk3 monos are 12-14 years old and my 088 preamp almost 15! I just don’t feel any compulsion to change and I have heard a few, if not all out there…..

    "If you don't have a $200k [speaker]..."

I am with you on this one…… the O/96 does scale and space that completely belies its size. I am playing them in a living room that is almost 600 SQ feet and it fills every inch of that better than my previous speaker.

    "If you don't have a $200k [speaker]..."

Hi, Lloyd, I knew someone would ask me that….. I’m buying the Marten Parker Trio diamonds! really like what they do with a smaller footprint, size and weight…. The Devore reference is too rich for my blood….for now

    "If you don't have a $200k [speaker]..."

I have heard Wilsons sound good actually..….but admittedly they are very set up finicky, more than some others comparable in terms of price. i know of more people in singapore who have moved away from Wilsons to other brands than the other way around. And for people who may not be aware, these...

    "If you don't have a $200k [speaker]..."

yes, I agree the O/96 are real value without a shred of doubt.. frankly, they are meant to be a stop gap before I get my speakers which are on order. I was not expecting the devores to be this good especially with my Burmester monos. What this tells me is to take stereotype statements like “...

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

my experience, of late, mirrors yours ie without subs. For years, I have had a pair of REL G1s with my Aviors and I have loved it. Strangely though, after I sold my G1 pair, I am enjoying the Aviors more. I just can’t fathom why. I also had a pair of Townshend podiums under my Aviors, which I...

Lumin X1 After Market Umbilical cord

No worries Tom. I wrote to AS to purchase it new. Apparently the one I need to buy is with 8 pins input. So I went ahead and bought it. And also got a 12% discount. So all good!

Hi Viola, i am assuming the AS is compatible with the U1 as well? I am currently using the X1 power supply with my U1.

Cheap and natural sounding SPDIF RCA or AES/EBU cable?

I recently bought the Empirical Design S/PDIF RCA and am very happy. Excellent cable, cheap and way better than my previous Nordost Blue Heaven. In fact for the first time I felt the RCA bettered my USB on the lampi big7. The sound through the ED is meatier, with better dynamics and a wider...

    REL No. 32

+1....I don’t understand either the big fuss about using track 4 of sneakers. I got hold of the CD recently and played it. If anything, the bass notes JH is talking about are very obscure in the mix......i really needed to crank it up

    REL No. 32

So true! Ditto my experience......a pair of G1s.....the single most positively impactful change to the system. I must admit though that’s I have the mk1s....I intuitively believe the no31 would be a significant upgrade.

    REL vs JL Audio subs

I’m not surprised at all. I have been using a pair of REL G1 with my Rockport Avior since 2015. Despite the real estate they occupy, I just can’t conceive listening without them. Now, admittedly, I haven’t tried the puritanical line level connection with an external crossover splitting the...
