My pressing is terrible :( They tried to cram all the songs onto one disc and compressed the heck out of it. I don't know if there are other pressings. One of the few where the files beat an LP of mine.
Congratulations! I just delivered Septet Sig Eds to their happy owner a few weeks ago. You describe them the way I heard them. I miss babysitting these speakers. I was genuinely sad when I had to pack them up for delivery.
I rememeber Gilbert Arenas saying that Zion should play the 2 given his height and speed and power going down hill. I thought it a bit strange because Zion can shoot but is not elite. 25 pounds off makes sense in this scenario though. We expect he'll be faster and if ANT or Brunson is anything...
I'm sweating buckets as I hope V 2.0 will be at least just as enjoyable to you and Tinka Ron. I think the only components remaining from your last visit are the racks, the AF1 and the Graham Elite. Wow how time flies. :)
See you soon!
I like what Tiesto said when asked why he basically dropped the genre that had him selling out venues like Wembley Stadium. Artistically he felt that he had fallen into a rut and just wanted to do new things musically. Asked how he could so easily forgo those millions, he simply said...
Youtube and Youtube music use 300ish mbps MP3 which is really more than enough for casual listening. It is tuned to be fuller down low and a bit rolled off up top compared to other non 16/44.1 or higher streaming services. The OP did say he compared a live concert recorded and shown on TV vs...
If you do go with another A1.5, it should be noted that the bass (as well as lower midrange texture) takes a big jump when set at Monaural Mode. In this mode, the wattage goes up while the amp ups power by using both rail power supplies on the output rail used. If you opt for Bridged Mode you...
The Orlando and first 2 years at the Lakers Shaq maybe. He still had crazy mobility. I don't think the bulked up Shaq could get out on the perimeter quick enough to bother the Joker Rainbow.
Early this year I let go of my E63S. It had very low mileage and went to a friend who is a true enthusiast and would take care of Max as he was fondly named by my son. The fact that it had low mileage was the reason I let Max go. I only drive far for golf or for the beach. As such the SUVs ended...
The Marten Parker Quintet Diamond Edition is no slouch either. Funny as revisiting this thread after 3 years and forgetting about it that we now represent Marten as well.
What my friends up North said. I'm not missing anything and I feel I've got nothing more to look for quite honestly. This is something I can live with for a very, very long time. The killer is that because of the modular architecture, upgrades will likely be made available in the future.
The Reflektor 3A remains an excellent speaker and I wouldn't change it. Old school SS however I would refresh. I would change from Rega to Technics 1200G with a base Ortofon Concorde cart with a replacement OM-40 stylus or OM Century stylus. The DD should improve percussive impact. The Luxman...
Yamaha has also had digital player pianos for years. As far back as whatever you call those discs that came after the floppy. Even Bosendorfer has been in the game.
If I'm not mistaken they were or maybe still are MIDI based. What I remember is that with the new generation they have upped the...
I second Rega because they have that three bolt mount to go with their carts. Screw them in and done. If he were to go with Rega I would recommend the optional power supplies for the lower models that require you to change belt position to go 33.3 or 45.
I likewise second the McIntosh and...
I brought out one of my tube amps and as soon as I powered up it showed that I have 4 output tubes had gone bad. I removed the tube cage and there it was. Easy to see. Tubes ordered. I'm bummed put such is life.
Been playing with our most affordable floor stander the Marten Oscar Trio with my...
The Von Schweikert VR-111 XS
This is the one off commission mentioned by RH in TAS some years ago. The XS is a 4 tower system with outboard crossovers. This was the speaker that birthed the Ultra line. The main and sub towers are 8 feet tall and they are set up in a 100+ sqm room with 4m...
My 16 yr old son is into it. He listens with me often. He also wants a system of his own but then if you have the keys and are allowed to drive then you won't be rushing Dad for it. I told him that I have all the gear of both his grand dads. That's good ^%$# I curated both of them myself! LOL...
Yes very much. The rectifier is the "guardian at the AC gate" as it converts to DC used in the audio circuits. Give it a try with the rectifiers types that can sub for the 5ar4. If in doubt, contact Dan as to what can be tried safely. He usually responds to customer questions.
Consoles Bob, they were called consoles. I'll never forget because my cousin Keith was almost crushed by one. It's okay, stitches. No permanent damage! It's funny now LOL
Man this thread went downhill fast. How the heck did we get to a BOSE 901? ROTFL
Thank you for the mention Ron. It was wonderful that you and Tinka were able to take a weekend off from her photography course i Tokyo to visit us here. I just wish you had more time and we could have gone outer island like we did with Steve and Cathy.
As there is no perfect room for everybody...
