Beautiful vintage sounds for sale. * Magnepan Tympani I-Ds planar speakers in original box. In a closet unused for over a decade. Appear mint. $1,000 includes Fulton (FMI) speaker cables for bi-amping (William Z Johnson's recommendation when these were new ;-) * ReVox B77 reel-to-reel with...

Win Research subwoofer designed as a companion for SM-10 & SM-8?

Gary, thanks for the info. the Audio Critic measured response indicted a higher -3dB point, and Sao Win's announcement then of a forthcoming subwoofer (right when I dropped out of audio) lead me to believe one was designed & released. I also think I remember someone telling me about a TAS or...

    budget-but-quality active line-stage $1,000 or less?

Actually not hunting as I have a Meridian preamp. I'm writing a history of modern design that differs significantly from the standard texts. Functionality takes precedence over appearance. The standard texts are particularly deficient in consumer electronics and just awful in high fidelity...

    budget-but-quality active line-stage $1,000 or less?

Andre, Thank you! This unit is actually in my database however I completely forgot that it was such an excellent value. I'm going to move it to the correct group right now before I've had a chance to forget. Best, Terry

    budget-but-quality active line-stage $1,000 or less?

From the description it seems as though it would. However I'm researching products for a definitive history of modern design. The standard histories have shortcomings I plan to address. The worst area is consumer electronics, particularly audio. Any products I include must have substantial...

Win Research subwoofer designed as a companion for SM-10 & SM-8?

Actually it's a history of modern design. However as the conventional histories get it almost entirely wrong with regards to consumer electronics I am paying special attention in this area and in particular with high-fidelity.

    budget-but-quality active line-stage $1,000 or less?

Too funny, well how often are you mistaken for Superman? Too bad about the specs. I looked at the website and just assumed some technical reviewer somewhere would have put this on a bench because it does seem very clever.

Win Research subwoofer designed as a companion for SM-10 & SM-8?

Many thanks. I remember Dr Win's speakers as exceptional, and am hoping to get details on the subwoofer. I'll certainly try Thilo. Thanks again.

Win Research subwoofer designed as a companion for SM-10 & SM-8?

Gary, Thanks for the info. Dr Win does seem to have vanished. I know at one point he released a subwoofer to match w/ the SM-10 & SM-8 but so far have found no info about it. I'm working on a history project, thus the interest. Thanks again, Terry

    budget-but-quality active line-stage $1,000 or less?

Theophile, thanks for the heads up. Interesting & I think a clever design; I'll google for test measurements. Sounds as though you are quite happy with it. What type of guitar do you play? best, Terry

    budget-but-quality active line-stage $1,000 or less?

Looking around the least expensive high-quality non-DIY active preamps I've found are: * Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus $599 * Emotiva XDA-2 w/ DAC $399 Both are very good & very good value however does anyone know of a high quality active analog line-stage (no phono needed) with a very...

JR 150 (larger sibling of JR 149)

Thank you. Just looking for data for a history project. If I'd change my Meridian DSPs for anything, likely it would be for a Linkwitz Lab design (LX521 or Pluto). I had a girlfriend like that once ;-) Thanks again.

JR 150 (larger sibling of JR 149)

I thought very highly of the JR149 (and its' companion active subwoofer). I never heard the JR150. It is a different design — tweeters, both mid/woofers, and crossover are all different. I'm looking for a quality review (HFN&RR, Gramophone or similar) for a historical project I'm working on.

JR 150 (larger sibling of JR 149)

Hi all, I'm looking for a review of these contemporary with their manufacture that contains measurements. Google has produced lots on the JR 149 but very little on the JR 150. I will eventually be able to check HFN&RR from that period however if anyone knows of a website I'm not finding...

The photos I've seen of BC & Alberta are beautiful. That must have been an amazing experience. When life is quiet here for a few hours I'll be in touch on this subject. As to the Chieftains, yes indeed I have everyone of their recordings through the live memorial for Derek Bell. My parents ere...

Just slightly. Some of his albums are on my to-get list. I'm starting a new enterprise so until that has lift-off I've not been buying any music. Looking forward to having some of his in my collection. Too beat to do it tonight but I will definitely be asking you a bit about life in BC.

Hi Bobby, Thank you for saying hello. I know I've been to Yardley but can't remember when or why so it must have been fun. I'm starting from a clear space in each category. When I got to office equipment, office automation, and telecommunications one of the things that occurred to me was the...
