Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Dear Emile, Since most of the Taiko team will be in Munich next week, I wonder if the first batch of Olympus will be shipped prior to Munich, or after Munich.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Dear Steve, The info that the Olympus XDMS should be released about three months after the release of the Olympus is good news! Thanks

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

In my system the sound quality of XDMS is clearly better than Roon. Hopefully I will get my Olympus XDMI in May, so after I ship back my Extreme, no more XDMS for me for a while, only Roon. Since many XDMS users/testers will be converting to Olympus, Taiko will probably lose most of the XDMS...

    Totaldac damping feet

Placed them under the DAC. The new feet did not exist when I upgraded to the Sublime DAC When I sent my two TD Drivers XLR to upgrade to Sublime, I asked for the new feet, so those came in screwed to the Drivers. I recently tried six Revopods under the Sublime DAC, and preferred the new...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Dear Emile, When do expect we can start using XDMS with the Olympus? June? July? August? I believe it will be another important step up vs. Olympus running Roon.

I add to your list: - At least two or three digital inputs to the DAC board: AES, spdif Coax, toslink, usb. I connect my two video sources, Kaleidescape and Appletv X to the DAC.

Can you provide us with the incremental price for each storage size option?

AppleTV X - I am playing with something new

I ordered a VanityPro for my Appletv X, to connect to my DAC using SPDIF coax. Hopefully will receive it in a few weeks, so I will test and report here. I am currently using a cheap hdmi audio extractor box with toslink output into DAC.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Dear Emile, I understand that many clients, like me, purchased only the Olympus XDMI. It would be great if we could have a private session for clients in the Munich High End to compare: (i) Olympus XDMI vs (ii) Olympus + I/O Xdmi. This way each one can decide if the improvement heard justifies...

BACCH-SP: The future of high-end audio? Yes.

Wil, I believe I have read all that Taiko has written in public, and I have never read Taiko state they are against using Bacch. Unless you have read a posting by Taiko that I missed, you are making a speculation, that in my view is incorrect. They are in favor of experimentation and respect...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

I wonder if anyone plans to use the Olympus XDMI with a Wadax Atlantis reference dac.

BACCH-SP: The future of high-end audio? Yes.

Wil, I will use the Olympus XDMI AES digital output to my Totaldac Sublime dac. It is supossed to be much better than the Taiko Extreme USB, so one could use the Olympus XDMI spdif output to feed the Bacch dio or adio. Or one could use the Olympus USB output (which is supposed to be better than...

BACCH-SP: The future of high-end audio? Yes.

I hope that BACCH dio mk4 comes with an AES digital input. Perhaps get rid of the spdif toslink that is inferior. The XDMI AES output of the Taiko Olympus is supposed to be better than its USB output.

Dear Emile, when do you expect to ship the first 20-25 units?

BACCH-SP: The future of high-end audio? Yes.

I suppose you could use the Taiko to feed a BACCH DIO or BACCH ADIO given that the BACCH has USB and SPDIF digital audio inputs.

Taiko Audio Extreme DC Power Distributor

Please let us know what you hear in terms of changes with the Melco DAC cable. I tried a Melco DAC cable between the Taiko switch and Taiko Extreme in my system, and there was no meaningful difference in the sound.

Taiko Audio XDMS - Extreme Direct Music Server Software

In my experience, Roon is more responsive to play titles, shows the resolution of the different files in a search, shows lyrics when available, and overall has a better interface, but I don't use it, I use only XDMS becaure everytime I compare, XDMS sounds much better than Roon in my system.

    Totaldac damping feet

I started with the Totaldac Twelve, then Twelve mk2, then Twelve mk3, and now Sublime. I suggest that you buy the best that you can afford. I have found the feet to be a worthwhile addition. Please see post #2.

    Totaldac damping feet

Quite happy with my Totaldac Sublime DAC and two Sublime Drivers. Every few years Totaldac comes with an update to further improve the sound, so I send the unit to France and receive a better one when it is back.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Or perhaps the Conrad Johnson ART-88 is the best tube preamp that Emile could find. I wonder what would be rank in terms of best tube (or hibrid) preamp among: VAC Statement ($70K), Lamm L1.1 sig ($55.3K), Riviera Labs APL10 SE ($47K), Conrad Johnson ART-88 ($28K), Ypsilon PST100 mk2 SE, VTL...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Steve, thank you. I would like to go, but since I don't have a date yet, I can't be sure if I can. This is why I asked for Munich, which I already have tickets and hotel.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

25% if compared to the Taiko Extreme. If compared to Olympus XDMI its an estimated 9,09% improvement (300%/275% - 1): "Olympus with XDMI mounted: 275% Olympus with Olympus I/O with XDMI mounted: 300%" However, I would like to hear it in order to decide if this 9,09% improvement is worth...
