You can use a decent laptop/desktop .. look at Dell precision/ lenovo thinkpad range (both are quiet or silent mostly) ... noise is not a factor as you can site the server machine and storage anywhere in the house and control via an ipad/droid tablet in the listening room...
Thats quite a room and gear you got there shaki.....
You get a -6db loss of spl with the doubling of distance .. so at 8m you lose 18db of spl compared to 1m ( 6db at 2m , 12 db at 4 and 18db at 8m) .. you also get a greater drop in treble with increased distance on top of just the SPL loss...
I say go big but not ridiculously so.. you have to bear in mind the cost of building/treating/decorating a big room is very high cos of the areas involved...
5-800 sq ft is probably ideal... the 1500 you envision (33x46) is a humungous room.
I have a 500sq (26x19)ft room for my Giya G1 spirits...
Have a look at this , a locally produced high end TT .. some pics and info .. no idea of price
REVOLVE turntable project.
I love turntables!
All those of you that grew up in the initial vinyl era will understand exactly what I mean when I talk about turntables, how they...
I began with my room , got it down to 19db ambient noise floor without it being dead .. pointless reducing the system noise floor without being able to hear it ...
Oddly enough , my 22 year old daughter wants to immigrate to go live in Amsterdam .. She was there in December, her fiancees brother lives there
I have a nice house in the Western Cape , on the border of a nature reserve , a few Km from the winelands , overlooking table mountain , 11 rooms...
It does require a digital process , but only for the low bass..you can run your main speakers unmolested and apply the dsp only on the subs or with pendragons , only on the bass towers
To absorb 60hz you need a flat trap of about 4ft spacing from the flat wall (1/4 wavelength of the freq ) and much thicker if you want to go below that ... I would rather use DSP and or a swarm of 4 subs to control bass below 100hz..
Wired is more reliable , so go that way if possible..dont get too hung up on whats sending the digits in terms of special "audiophile" computers or isolation tables etc.. its the DAC and whats after it that matters..every month there is a new Dac that comes out and is better than sliced...
Streamer is the device that accepts files and plays them (like from a hd or internet)
Server is a computer program that accepts instructions to process various files at the instruction of other software ... it accesses the files and sends them on to the streamer
The bridge is what joins...
The best way is to use ASC type tube traps..1/2 the diameter is absorbent , the other 1/2 is reflective (diffusion as its a curved surface) and you can rotate them to change.. bass trapping wont hurt either.
You need to measure the rooms interaction at listening position..cheap as chips..a 70...

If you want to control the subs only and leave the g1's unmolested a minidsp 4x10 will do. Its $500
I use the trinnov to control my whole system in the digital domain , im only using 2 of the 4 chans (no subs) digital out of trinnov to my amps...I have tried it as a pre/dac with an...
I was really wanting the audiokenesis swarm , but the cost of getting it to South africa was prohibitive .. almost as much as the system itself. Duke is a fantastic guy and gave me a ton of info .. I would at least audition his offering as its not dreadfully expensive
My room is not lossy ...
Ive had many subs in my time , JL, REL, Velodyne , B&W , KrK , SVS, homemade etc
The best value for money were my SVS's (12, 13ultra,16 ultra)
I did a 4 sub swarm with the 13 ultras and dual subs with the 16..My primary reason for running the multisubs was to smooth room response , not so much...
You only live once .... so go for it!!!!!
I can identify as I had a quad bypass and 2 back operations in the last year or so (and have mild parkinsons and diabetes) .. these conditions and my physical capabilities made me decide to go "all in" on my system and room and enjoy the results as long...
The floor is thick faux wood atop an acoustic underlay on concrete
The walls use this stuff on battens with acoustic fibre behind (I also had part of the ceiling done but took it down for diffusion

I had the chance to pick up a v12 biturbo s600 for very little money (under $10k) ..my madcap idea at the time was strip it of all the weighty accessories , seats etc and bolt on some slicks and use it as a dragster..
Phono uses eq..hardware based
There are bass issues that only eq can fix , like 10+ db humps at 40khz and below..bass trapping will do nothing about those.
Another good use is to program in a loudness setting that will make low level listening much better even headphones are eqed these days....
Thats the point , eq colours the sound by definition.
Roons dsp engine is pretty good .. the results of tweaking can be heard a/bed , turned on or off all on the fly..important..peq, upsampling, headroom management , convolution and and and ..'
The real fly in the oinkment is that you have to...
The old style bass and treble controls threw away the baby with the bathwater and analog graphic eqs didnt perform so well either
However we are in the modern age where DSP parametrics can do a lot more good than harm notable in removing low bass peaks..
Add to that there are units like Trinnov...
If you take a look at the graphs you will see a pic of my target curve thats overlayed on the flat correction ..my bass rises and isnt flat..flat bass sounds anemic
There is a corollary to all this..you can get caught up in endless tweaking and one is never really sure what the "right" sound is...so if it sounds good to you , it is
I have set up 3 inputs into my devialets , uncorrected, DIRAC and Trinnov and can instantly flip between them.
Uncorrected is not acceptable at all..end of story..those bass nodes are ridiculous.
anyway to get to the nub of the matter , the correction via dirac enhances imaging and is really...
