You're probably right. I have about 1.5 TB of digital (AIFF) music in my Music library, and a computer audio (USB) set up. I suppose the alternative is a server of some kind, but I don't know the ins and out of that technology and would the AIFF encoding be a problem?
Isn't the nominal impedance of these speakers 4 Ohms? That's not exactly going to mate well low power-out amplifiers. In the Wilson systems I've seen, 300W-1000W solid state amplifiers seem pretty common.
I'm also a MacBook Pro + external SSD user. My digital files are all 44.1/16 (on purpose). I have a couple of Wavelength USB Dacs, one portable, the other bigger, and I play my files with A+ or BitPerfect. BitPerfect is the real deal, at least for 44.1/16 files, as far as I'm concerned. My...
I'd agree with your comments about the Stellaris. The qualities you mention are subtle, as they should be, and yes I have run mine with both AAVT and RCA Dual backplates. Both sound very, very good and compliment each other. Rectifiers also make a difference. I have several U52's and RCA...
Just for the record, the reactor that exploded at Chernobyl was graphite moderated and water cooled. The graphite pile had no container envelope surrounding the pile. The pile was out in the open inside a cement building. For these and other reasons related to its implementation, it was an...
Look at the Orangutan line at Devore Fidelity.https://www.devorefidelity.com. The O/93 would probably work for you. It is 93dB sensitive, with an impedance of 10 Ohms, which taken together make it quite an efficient speaker. I've heard them at shows with a 300B amp and I actually preferred...
I'm using a MacBook Pro with the latest version of Audivirana and a TB3 drive. I'm not sure the TB3 drive and cable aren't overkill. USB-C works fine. I can't hear any difference. I wonder if a TB3 USB - if it ever exists - would make a difference. I actually prefer my speaker system, but...
I use AN-Vx (Silver), AN-Lexus (copper) and Crimson Cable (Copper) RCA interconnects between my digital front ends, preamps, and amps. I also have AN-SPx (Silver), AN-Lexus (Copper) and Crimson Speaker Cables. I never mix brands or models of cables, interconnects or speaker in any system...
I wasn't so much impressed by the death stuff, as I was by how thoroughly Alex approached and prepared for the climb. Also, I was struck by how much he has matured, more in terms of becoming more "social" and communicative, especially, than as a climber.
Fi Audio 2A3 monos, Audionote (UK) Conqueror Silver, Larry Moore Darling, Tonian Labs TL-D1 loud speakers. I also have a DNA Audio Stellaris 2A3 headphone amplifier.
When my WE tubes started to fade, I went to a PSVane pair. The boxes were all in Chinese, so I don't know the model. They have grayish plates and clear glass, but aren't the replica tubes. In fact, I can't find them after searching on the Web. (They were supplied by Audio Note (UK)). They...
I heard these the other day in concert with the New SORO SE Signature Integrated. I was very surprised by the sound quality, given the price of the ZERO digital twins and the integrated, as well. This is a nice budget (mid-priced?) system.
I've always used a MacBook Pro with A+ (or BitPerfect) and a wavelength Brick. My iTunes library/music files are on an external USB-C SSD. I don't see any need to go to a Thunder Bolt 3 SSD. Yes, I use Time Machine to back up my iTunes Music.
I put this up on the cables forum but wasn't able to remove it. I am so sorry. Here's the text:

Blue Circle Audio has come out with a new integrated amplifier that aims directly at a Truthful sound, that might interest you. There is a "First Look" review by Bob Neill on the BC Forum: http://www.bluecircle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1971&p=14402#p14402 , which may interest you.
Some tube rolling will get you nowhere. How much a different tube in all but one position (output) will influence the sound depends on the circuit. Choose wisely.
Dennis Fracker (sp?) is quite a character and gets a lot of heat on Audio Asylum for his "pronouncements". The same is true for Jeff Medwin. My reaction to what I have heard from listening to these amps at a couple of RMAFs is the same as Blue 58s. I have a pair of Fi 2A3 monos, the same...
This is a small mfr located in Cambridgeshire, UK. They make some interesting equipment. Except for a couple of older reviews by Art Dudley, I can't find anything much about their equipment (SS pre- and power amps).
I'm fishing. Does anyone, here, own any DNM equipment, or has anyone heard...
I've never owned this Dac, but I have heard both the ELROG and WE300B in one amp I own and both 1950s and EML hard plates 45s in another. I prefer the ELROG to the WE in the 300B amp. Even though it is down on power, it sounds more present. I prefer the older 45s because of their luscious...
Yes, I don't plan to depart from digital 44.1/16 with a NOS Dac. I currently have an Audio Note (UK) AN CD4.1x one-box player on my main system. I am switching from a Wavelength Proton Dac to a Wavelength V2 Brick with the linear, regulated power supply on my computer audio system for...
Although I am not a regular, I agree with 853 guy. I really don't fit in here, but I do drop in and listen a bit. I am quite fascinated by the conversations, general and specific. Those who do post regularly seem to be having fun and, if Steve Williams is a "moderator", I find him especially...
The newest Blue Circle NSC preamp (https://www.flickr.com/photos/17843311@N00/sets/72157670666683675) and NSL SS amp (www.bluecircle.com/page70.html) combine the best of both worlds. However, you probably have to make a trip to Amherst Audio in Amherst, MA to listen!
I am an avid headphone listener. I use a Donald North Audio 2A3 SET amplifier (with almost all caps, film and electrolytic, and some key resistors replaced with AN(UK) parts). I also own a custom SS amp built by Blue Circle Audio, plus many more before that as I worked my way up the food...
