Frank Schroeder during a presentation used the glass from a spotlight lamp as a base placed on the platter. He then put a large ball bearing on top of the glass and of course it will only stop moving when level. Simple and effective.
I want to point out that the Schroeder has a wooden arm wand and the others mentioned do not. This avoids the 'ringing' effect which adds a measurable distortion to the sound. The Atlas with the Schroeder is an excellent choice, same as Frank uses himself I believe. Its the wooden arm beam in...
I had the Audio Synthesis modded universal transport and DAX Discrete too. Dual optical digital outputs sent enough digital data for SACD and DVDA discs. Single digital optical for the DAX Decade.
My observation is that you know you are ‘getting there’ when you witness a drop in surface noise.
With the SMARTractor how do you measure cantilever alignment?
I am grounded!
The Poseidon is fully grounding the SIA-025. That is negative speaker channels and a third Apollo Infinity for a spare rca input. I also have a Silver Tellus with eight grounding leads to ground all the source components. Encountered a small problem with the Poseidon middle...
I have found this thread of great benefit. Saturday should be Vitus grounding day. A Poseidon with Infinity Apollo to ground speaker negative terminals plus a spare input for the middle Entreq terminal.
Interesting topic that you raise.
I think a lot of the audio press also run into this trap. This is with their reviews of individual components.
At the level most of you are enjoying isn’t it about system synergy where the result is greater than the contribution of each individual piece...
Yes the Artemis has a wooden beam that was designed by Frank. Schroeder and Durand both use wood to manage resonance and avoid ringing through the arm tube.
An update for everyone on the Heco Direkt.
I have had some class speakers through my rig including Verity Audio Parsifal Ovation and more recently Raidho C1.1.
It was this post from Bonzo that caught my eye;-
'Depends if you only want bookshelf, or small. The Heco Direkt, which costs 2700...
Hi Barry,
Looking closely at the components in the rack your Entreq grounding boxes look like they are isolated with feet, not sure if they are Stillpoints. What is the thinking here if the Entreq contains minerals/ crystals? (Not electronics which we know are microphonic).
No Melco in the shortlist?
Also the Raspberry Pi with a linear power supply is what I consider the bargain of recent times. Can play from a network file share and also can link directly in my case to Spotify Premium.
Don't forget a linear supply for the internet router too.
Thanks

I think you have introduced a different perspective by using the hobby and what you have achieved to be shared with others. For a lot of us it's a lonely persuit in our listening rooms alone for sometimes hours at a time. If only the other half had been into audio.

I can speak with a little experience because I am to blame for introducing you to Modwright. Remember the listening session?
I don't think Martin Logan would be suitable for what you need them for. I would much prefer the Wilson upgrade.
