Here are my findings after using these headphones for months - Focal Bathys, Bowers & Wilkins Px8 and Mark Levinson 5909.

I'm going - this evening!! :)
It's going to three very exciting days at the Messe.
I will try to document as much as I can, filming with my new Sony camera.
So, for those who don't get to travel over the big pond and simply don't have time to visit the show - do check out my new YouTube...
Hi guys
I'm late to the party, but still want to post my findings.
Bruce, you are right about Saracon, it's a great SRC for PCM, but as you have pointed out, Pyramix better preserve the benefits of DSD-recordings when resampling to 192kHz.
When comparing Saracon and Pyramix I find the latter...
It's a never ending story... :-)
Tomorrow I'm going to properly calibrate the subwoofer with Room EQ Wizard and a Brüel & Kjaer measurement microphone. And then adjust the low-end by ear of course.
Thanks for your kind words and the tip about the JL and Paradigm subwoofers.
I must say that...
The signals have been filtered all along, before the crossover frequency was set to 85Hz - 24dB/octave - in my Crookwood C1 monitor controller. I couldn't adjust the crossover without having to open the unit and change resistors. The low-end was sent to the woofer and the rest of the spectrum to...
BTW, I installed the Bryston 10B sub active crossover. Man, it's a wonderfully sounding box. I'm so glad I opted for an analogue solution.
With the Crane Song Solaris DAC -> Bryston filter -> Velodyne DD+10, it really makes me respect the Velodyne sub even more. Now, the sub low-end is...
Hi
I own TAD CE-1 speakers and power them with an ATC P1 amp - dual-mono discrete Class A/B - and the combo sounds great. I use Acoustic Zen Absolute Shotgun speaker cables, and Supra Sword interconnects.
Regarding the tiny harshness you're hearing, it's most likely because the speakers...
Thanks for the link, Tom. Very interesting discussion.
I believe that yours and mine quest for the perfect subwoofer might be similar. I too was looking for a sealed subwoofer, preferably with built-in filters. When I heard the Velodyne DD+ series, I was instantly sold on the tightness, dry...
Fantastic to hear that they even integrate well with big Wilson speakers.
As you say, integration is key. The filters inside the DD+ subwoofers sounds great. I measure the room response and set them manually, but I've heard that the automatic mode works well too.
The servo works really...
Hi guys
I recently got a Velodyne DD+10 and love the way it integrates itself with my TAD speakers. Perfect marriage in my control room.
With Velodyne seemingly going out of business, or changing business direction, I'm looking for other manufacturers that makes subwoofers with servo...
I spoke with a Home Cinema dealer yesterday, and he said that he hasn't been able to order any Velodyne subs from the manufacturer, and not from the country distributor either.
So it seems like the rumor is correct.
I'm so glad I managed to buy a DD+10 before they ran out of stock. I guess...
You are most likely right about the price/performance comparing Velodyne with its competitors.
But personally, I have yet to find another subwoofer brand that can compete with the performance of the Velodyne DD+ series. The digital servo does a fantastic job tightening up the woofer performance...
I've just installed a Velodyne DD+10 in my control room and I love the sound. Too bad if it's true that Velodyne is going out of business.
A friend and HiFi-dealer came back from the Münich HiFi Messe and according to him, the Velodyne people were talking about a new DD-series being launched...
