I finally bought the Buffalo Switch and achieved a meaningful improvement by placing it between the server and my streamer - lower noise floor, more micro-details, deeper sound stage etc.
I figure some of this step-up is due to the integrity of the switch itself. A lot of this result must also...
Hello there,
I have a technical question for the electrical engineers out there. An audio consultant mentioned that an amp's maximum power consumption is more important in producing a dynamic sound than its rated power output.
For example, a Pass Labs x350.8 stereo amp is rated 350W/channel @...
Sorry I meant Tripoint, not Triton.
Tripoint's flagship product is the Troy Signature grounding box. Their premium grounding cable is the Thor SE master. This is reference level stuff.
Both Entreq and Tripoint are well discussed in this website.
The Entreq Poseidon box is used in my system to ground all the source-related components - Streamer, DAC, Server and my current switch which is the Apple Time capsule.
While the box has 3 binding posts, one cable provided splits into two spade terminals allowing for 4 connections.
The addition...
Many thanks for the info.
Would the upgrade switch still be a reworked D-Link device?
Re: grounding, my choice would be the Entreq Poseidon Box I have plus an Eartha Apollo Spade cable.
The Buffalo machine doesn't seem to have a dedicated grounding terminal so I assume I could use one of the...
Buffalo (Melco's parent) also makes an audio-grade giga-switch (BS-GS2016/A) at a similar price-point to the AQVOX product. It's available via Amazon Japan.
Roy Gregory loves Alexx plus Thor's Hammer.
Says once you have heard properly amplified sub-woofers, there's no going back to two speaker systems.

Of course Mr Harley's assertion is time sensitive. It's just an indication of what multi-amped systems are capable of.
Everybody has their predilections based on brand history, budget etc.
4-5 designers from prominent speaker manufacturers extolling the benefits of multi-amped systems should not...
Robert Harley from Absolute Sound - "best system ever heard." Rockport Arrakis tri-amped with Gryphon Amplification using Rockport's own outboard cross-over.

Yes, but he's clearly implying that using the same amplifiers fixes this problem. It also helps if the external digital cross-over if built by the speaker manufacturer.
Multi-amping speakers
No comment on Wilson but many great speaker designers - Gryphon, Rockport, Vandersteen, YG Accoustic and Vivid are now promoting semi-active and fully active speaker designs with external or built-in digital cross-over boxes.
This article is very interesting...
