I discovered just yesterday the song "Lose Again" by Linda Ronstadt on her album Hasten Down the Wind.

Even on YouTube the power of her voice cuts through the recording. I think the performance is amazing! Not unusual for her, but amazing nonetheless.

Absolutely amazing singer! Also amazing band, and I love the guitar solo. Thanks for posting this, Ron.

Linda Ronstadt, an incredible natural voice and singing style.

Stopped by a rare brain disease called progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). A form of Parkinsonism that is distinct from Parkinson's itself, PSP is a motor disorder that causes problems with walking, balance, eye movements, swallowing, and fine motor coordination.

Fortunately her voice is preserved forever in her music.

Hasten Down the Wind is a great CD. And Ronstadt a legend …

Just listened to it. Thanks for mentioning it. I love her voice. Another obscure song from her collection that shows her great vocal power is "Colorado". And of course, "Blue Bayou", I play this song weekly.

The song's composer, Karla Bonoff, has a very beautiful version of it on her debut album from 1977. Although she does not have the vocal power of Linda (who does?), Karla's version is very much first-rate. Linda recorded several of Karla's songs over the years.

Karla lives in Santa Barbara and still tours pretty regularly with Nina Gerber. She usually plays 3 or 4 SoCal venues when she tours.

Thanks. I’m looking her up now.

Qobuz also has the Hasten Down the Wind album with the first five Asylum albums in "The '70's Studio Albums Collection" available in different resolutions up to 192/24 for $80 (down to CD resolution for $51. None of the Capitol albums (like the last one - Heart Like a Wheel) are included.
Don't Cry Now
Prisoner in Disguise
Hasten Down the WInd
Simple Dreams
Living in the USA

These are remasters of the originals, released by Rhino-Elektra.

To my ears, the 192/24 versions sound quite good.
