I bought this when my desktop computer speakers (AudioEngine 2's) died. I had a pair of small speakers that were originally satellites in a 5.1 home theatre system. With the Fosi amp they make a great desktop audio system. To my ear the new setup sounds better than the Audioengine 2's. One really good feature us that this amp has separate controls for base and treble, volume, and a separate on/off switch. This is really good for computer audio because once you get the tone controls and volume set the way you want, you doin't have to fiddle with them again. Moreover, the knobs have clearly marked position switches, so, if someone does fiddle with the controls, its easy to get back to about your original settings. It's aso inexpensive given its quality. I paid $60 for it, so my out of pocket for new speakers was less than a pair of cheap computer speakers. I note that this amp is advertised as 600W. It's not. My guess is 20-30 W per channel is more like it. This said a good 20-30 W amp will drive most speakers to uncomfortably loud levels. If you have an old pair of speakers laying around, of even if you buy one of the "pretty good" cheap pairs that are out there (i.e. Dayton Audio) you can get a good pair of desktop speakers for less than the cost of a comparable pair of powered speakers.
