Who remembers Davey Schultz from the Broad Street Bullies.

You don't get it....it doesnt matter. The fans are die hard and the place is always sold out

Last time I could say I was a fan, Punch Imlach was the coach and Mahovlich was their star
You obviously don’t follow hockey anymore and specifically the Toronto press where every year it’s a massive disaster and disappointment for the fans. This year the GM is fired and they’re likely to part ways with Marner. Love seeing them lose every playoff!

You’re correct. I don’t follow it anymore unless I'mm back in Toronto with my relatives. The team was passed from Ballard and Smyrhe ownership and purchased by the Teachers union who could care less about winning or losing. They only cared about perpetual sold out arenas. It is now owned by MLSE who owns the Raptors Argonauts and several other local teams. The majority shareholder is Rogers Communication the largest cable company in Canada. So once again it’s a cash cow that the fans hate because MLSE could care less about the Stanley Cup as they are 100% sold out It’s a different mindset in Toronto. It’s all about the bottom line. It was a great ownership when Ballard and Smythe owned the team.

Why would I be a Leafs fan?
Well you have the attitude for it. Toronto fans do have a love/hate relationship with their team. Where are you from anyway?

The casual fan who has just watched hockey on TV or the upper loges at the rink may not realize just how fast and skilled this play is! Watching at ice level the game is incredibly fast and the body contact is ferocious!

It would be great to bring Lord Stanley back home.
And, not to take anything away from all the talented and skilled players in the league, it would be amazing to watch McDavid holding up the cup. What a player!

Go Oilers!

The GM isTreliving and he didn't get fired. Shanahan who was President didn't have his contract renewed.

Your comments regardless of what team you root for smacks as a fair weather fan, stick around when the going is good, jump ship when it's not, get back on when things turn again.

And they never will since there isn't a "Canada" NHL team, just like there isn't a USA NHL team, or Sweden NHL team ,etc. :) That said, if a Canadian based team has a chance it's the Oilers if they can keep playing defense they way they did vs the Stars and Skinner holds up in net. Panthers take penalties and McDavid and Leon D will light them up
Seeing how they are the only Canadian team left.... Stars are going to be dismantled. Benn has to go.

Poor Canada. That was a complete domination by FL.

Florida was definitely the better team and are worthy Stanley Cup champions!

Strictly speaking the Stanley Cup is not a national championship. So it's not really about poor Canada, although I suspect many Canadians were cheering for the Alberta Oilers !

The Florida Panthers actually have very few American players but are well represented by some very talented Finnish players. As usual there were quite a few Canadians on both teams as well as a strong representation from many European countries
