I hate the tonearm wiring though. It looks like two cub scouts lashed it up.

That's not a stock arm :) At least as I knew it.

Great, great arm still to this day. Very close friend years ago had to choose between the stock AT arm and the VTA adjustable and automatic cuing. My biggest concern was the VTA mechanism breaking and getting it fixed. I also liked that Leif had different wands available to mate to optimize the performance of different cartridges.

BTW, Leif Haggemark who used to make the AT arm is one of the nicest people around and a big high-end importer in Scandinavia. Life just got too busy for Leif to make the arm. (now say that quickly five times!)

to get the wiring rght is very critical due to lack of friction, and thus it can´t be twisted
also in a 112db sensitiv horn system, it´s an art to got phono quiet, as in DEAD SILENT, when one wants to avoid using shielding on cables, even in and from the tonearm

I have heard the reference and the 10b on many occasions for me it had no sonic signature at all, I remember vocals just flowing with ghostly silences to my humble ears the air tangent is the king of all tonearms to this very day

the only deviation from stock is the carbon armtube and my very spesific solution to wiring and getting the phono system quiet on 112db speakers
I tried lots of different wires, but Audio Note AN 300 is by far the smoothest sounding
the AN terminal on the termination block is for the grounding scheme
wiring from there to Lyra Erodion transformer is pure silver in cotton w/o shielding
same from transformer to all out LCR riaa with 100lbs choke input psu
replaced the Aesthtix Io, never looked back

definitely sellers market
heard one was up for sale in Canada a few years ago, went for 25K USD
most of the limited 100 units are sold to the far east and resurfaces for service in Sweden now and again
Leif told me he´s committed to never make more than the original 100 units, even though he´s got parts for 5 more
several reviewers have been onto him to restart production, without success
one of those few items you just hang on to whatever happens
I´ll probably hang on to an old viking custom and bring it in the grave with me.....

I would love to have remote control adjustable VTA, even if an aftermarket widget.

works flawlessly
you can set absolute ZERO for reference
e.g. zero for me is Lyra Titan i
when I had another cartridge in the other magnesium arm assy, I knew it was proberly adjusted @3,6mm above, so just input, GO and the Swiss Escap motors takes it up there
repeatable and consistant forever
the increments can be adjusterd as well
I used to have a Wheaton and also FR 66FX with B60, but this is much more precise and can be repeated forever
perfect reviewers tool yes

I have been speaking with someone who has one for sale for $17000 in its original flight case, I am tempted as I do have a basis debut turntable that I have not used for a while. I just cant help thinking its a lot of money

I´d buy it if I were you!
I know people who´d love to get one
they´re more unusual than chickens teeth!:D
mine is on a Basis Ovation
pump etc is 50 feet away in the basement
remember pump unit to be kept below arm, due to possibility of condensation
