I have been using a Shunyata Triton power conditioner for about 3-4 years now, and I have been very happy with its operation. It is a passive device (no active components such as caps, transformers, etc.) that removes noise from the AC power. This works two ways. One, the AC in is cleaned of noise created by your neighbors, and your own devices, such as the refrigerator, air conditioner, etc. Two, it also removes the noise generated by the audio gear power supplies which is then reflected back onto the AC line. Anyway, with the Triton, coupled with Shunyata power cords, I have been given a very quiet system that allows the music to emerge from a noiseless background.

This works so well I have bought a Shunyata Hydra AV for the HT, and two Hydra Cyclops, one for each amp. Additionally, I have extended the filtering of the Triton by adding a Typhon to it. At this point, it is hard to imagine the power getting any cleaner.

Recently, Shunyata introduced the Triton v2 with better filtering, improved AC outlets, and ground lugs to provide a common ground for all your gear. Caelin Gabriel, the founder and power wizard, said the improvement over the v1 Triton was greater than adding a Typhon to the system. Since I haven't bought anything new since the Lumin S1, and I am patriotic by helping the economy, I decided to go with the Cable Company upgrade program.

Well, this is one of my better purchases. The v2 arrived yesterday morning via Fed-Ex. That itself was a good sign, since I always seem to be the last person on Fed-Ex and UPS delivery routes. I hooked it up in the garage and attached five fans to it. It burnt in for eight hours yesterday, and I installed it in the rack a little past 6 PM last night. At this point, my system only has two devices using the eight port Triton, the Lumin S1, and the Pass XP-20 preamp.

As soon as I powered up the source gear I knew the sound was better. I immediately 'heard' a quieter background. Remember that I already thought the background was as quiet as it could get, but apparently I was wrong. This thing is freaking awesome. All forms of music are just emerging from the air in front of me. Whether it is a string quartet, a female jazz band, or a basic rock band, the Triton v2 has bought new life to everything. The clarity and articulation from instruments and singers is so much more clear and obvious. I already have a very precise system, and the v2 is letting it work at a higher level. That is without any question, and I expect it to only improve over the next few weeks as it settles in to its new home.

Last night as I listened to various songs I would just break out in laughter and start clapping at how good it sounded. It is that good.

I have to highly recommend the Shunyata Triton v2, the Typhon, and their power cables. The improvement these products have bought to my stereo is exceptional.

Enjoy Bud

I know exactly the feeling you are experiencing. In my V2 review I asked how Caelin could take an already perfect product IMO and make it better

It really is a WTF moment the first time you turn it on and listen

To me, the most impressed thing about V2 is not the details or very quiet. I think my system has enough details. Somehow V2 brings me more emotional to the music and more musical. Most impressive product.

Yes, completely agree with you Bud.

I thought I wasn't hearing the improvement everyone was talking about because I have the Torus panel feeding the room and that maybe it was just more of the same with the upgraded Triton. But now that theV2 is broken in......WOW! The air, the clarity, the soundstage, stunning!

Best way I can describe is that there is more meat around the bone and that I am now seated in the center of the front of the orchestra rather than further back in the orchestra

After a week of burn-in, the bass seems more defined and precise with a bit more oomph, to use an audiophile term. :)

I moved my Triton v1 into the HT/surround system, where it displaced the Hydra AV. The AV is now used for the TV, where it displaced a two port Hydra Alpha. All in all, I feel both the sound and picture have improved with this change. I have said it before, but have to say it again. I just cannot get over how audio and video gear improve with cleaner power. I get a much bigger kick out of these improvements than gear changes, which I expect to make a difference. I hope my two Sigma HC cords arrive this week.

My take on the Triton V2 is a little different to Steve's. I swapped out the Triton V1 for V2 with my friends Steve McCormick (SMC Audio), Rick Brown (HiFi One) and Arian Jansen (Sonorus); three friends whose hearing I have to rely upon & trust.

The Triton V1 had been in the system for 2 - 3 years, so it was well warmed up & completely broken-in. We replaced this with a stone cold, zero hours line conditioner and were gob smacked by the differences: the sound opened up completely, as if the previous system had been compressed. It make the V1 sound as if it were broken in comparison. To to bottom, the sound was more alive, dynamic, quieter & revealing. But completely even-handed in its portrayal, it did not spot light any frequencies, nor did it etch the upper mid range or HF.

That was three weeks ago, I have since added a TT Weights CNC stainless steel VTL collar & post to the stock Jelco SA-250 on my Luxman PD-171 and I can tell you that my vinyl playback is altogether superb. Between the Triton 2 and the Sigma AC cords my system has never sounded better. I am a happy man !

You described exactly what I heard. I was moved from the center of the orchestra to the center of the first three rows. I guess that's what you call "gob smacked" :)

Steve,

You know how reviewers love to use the analogy, that the additional resolution sounded like a veil being removed from in front of the music, in the case of the Triton V2, it's more like a blanket, the effect is so pronounced.

I was expecting a subtle improvement, not one so dramatic !
This should grow even more interesting as the unit breaks-in and becomes even more natural sounding.

Next up, I am going to remove the DPC6 from the Triton V2 and connect it directly to my dedicated digital AC line.
Ciao

Isn't that what a Venom MPC-12 is designed for

I am trying to get me head around just how much of an impact I can get by adding a Triton v2 when the only components I can connect would be my pre-amp and Meridian 8008v3 which functions as a SooLoos endpoint. Sure I can add my turntable and phono pre but those a seldom used.

All I have attached to my v2 is the preamp and the file player, and I was more than happy with the result.

Received my Triton V2 and 2 x Sigma HC's and 2 x Digital Sigma's yesterday.

Previously I was using the Triton V1 with Typhoon and all Alpha HC cables from the Triton.

I put the Triton V2 in 1st, wow I was not expecting that much of a jump in performance, not so much as a jump as a dramatic improvement. Everything was louder, bass extension and soundstage all very noticeable improvements. The grip on the power cables is much better, they seat very solidly now, no more loose PC's.

Next I swapped out eh Alpha HC's for the digital ones 1st, hmm there was less sibilance initially then its increased, music does not seem quite as clear as with the Alpha HC's. Finally pout in the Sigma HC on the amps - same result, so I am thinking this is due to burn in?

Any insights on this would be appreciated.

Thinking of going with the Anaconda IC's XLR's, I notice this comes in a shielded and non shielded version, I have been told that the Shielded sound more compressed. Is this right. I cannot demo any Shunyata cables in Australia so have to buy these without hearing them 1st. Can anyone help with a description of the type of sound that the top end Shunyata IV's sound like please?

Nice. I'm toying with the idea of upgrading as well.

FWWIW, I used a full loom of Shunyata Anaconda ICs and SCs and sold them. Preferred my Transparents. Shunyata was lighting fast and transparent, but less "musical" than the Transparents to my ears. There is not much controversy about their PCs being excellent cables that seem to work in all systems. IC and SC are more personal taste and system dependents.

Which upgrade approach more benefit I could gain ?

Option 1. Replace Hydra AV with Titron v2
Option 2. Add Typhon into existing Hydra AV
Option 3. Insert Equitech balanced transformer between wall and Hydra AV.

P.S. I don't have dedicated AC circuit.

Inserted a Triton v2, last night, replacing a 3 year old Triton 1. Initial impressions, a lot more sparkle and life. As someone said its not a veil but a blanket that's been lifted. The highs are shrill and etchy which I hate but no more than when the Triton 1 was installed. I reckon this is a very sensible move but the 200 hour+ burn in is a royal PITA. Why can't they sell it largely broken in. I know I am treading on worn ground and this has been answered before. But still...
