Cart hundreds of kilos of gear thosands of miles. But don't set it up to play. Yeah, makes sense.

do you know of anybody that owns one or have you ever heard one being played?

I saw the huge beast 2 years ago @ the HK hifi show, but Dietrich said he did not have time to set it up to play.
They are up and running in private homes Shane. Dietrich told me he installed one in Taiwan. At least two in HK. If the AS didnt get to me first, I probably had one too.

Three AF0 will be in Bangkok.

Ok, I'm a potential customer (I'm not obviously, but for argument's sake), and AF0 and Apolyt are going to appeal to my desire to have the best, the biggest, the most macho (AS2000 and Vyger don't have a chance here) tt rig. How am I auditioning these, making a decision? Apolyt is 50% pricier than AF0 even, I believe (did I see a tag of €700k)?

It would be nice to see one action in a system

Dietrich told me he sold 4 or 6 ( I can't recall) at the HK hifi show to Asian customers when he was there in 2017.

Tang, time for another table?

Marc, the Apolyt is cheap at around 260k euro.

If you are spending this much $$ and you really need to hear it first, you fly to Tech Das in Japan or Dietrich's place in Germany.

Ron. You need to get out more. How many millennials are spending lots of $$ on hifi.

400K turntables I am afraid is obscene. How many of these hi end jewellery ( hifi) companies will be around in 5 or 10 years?

once us pensioners get too old to spend $$ on hifi, it will be over as we see it today. Same for vinyl.

Streaming is the present and future of hifi and video. that said, I will still enjoy my vinyl albums, just refuse to pay the obscene prices they are charging for $20 Blue Note albums.

They do make turntables in our price range so I'm perfectly fine. The 3 Premium is killer good.

Wow, Tang. That is impressive considering there are also some AS2000s there. That is quite a concentration of very expensive gear. I'd love to see some photos of the Apolyt installations.

Somebody who has that money doesn't need to fly around. He orders it, and if doesn't like it, leaves it sitting there next to the table he likes playing for pictures.

If he flew around to listen, he would realize that both Brinkmann balance and Vyger are better tables than the AF1P, 1, 3, so probably better than than the 0 too. And the NVS the way Mike sets it up. Just having pimped up bass and soundstage like the techdas does it gets boring quite soon unless your diet is only rock and electronica

Thailand has been HOT for a few years now. Healthy economy plus people that know how to enjoy life is a great combination. All we need in the Philippines is the better economy :D

Ked, no mention of the AS2000? Based on the TechDas sitting idyl at Tang's and Christians, the AS2000 would also seem better. Massive belt drives seem to be the current SOTA typology, but judging from these various tables, there are different approaches within that type.

Pimped up bass and soundstage? Seriously? All a table does is sit there and spin the plastic. Unless it is introducing massive amounts of resonance, the sound can only be subtractive and not additive.

Now if what you get is "pimped out" I hardly think any one component would be fully to blame.

Yes I don't think techdas has the nuance for classical music, this has been consistent across every system I heard and models. It throws a large powerful sound that impresses

XV, it's weird to retract and say "sorry, my mistake, ONLY €260k!".

Now, who's the first one who'll get an AF0 and Apolyt in the same room?...

Someone who uses C notes in the bathroom to clean you know what. But if they have diarrhea, they may have to pull out the Grant's.

I was listening to a Mahler album Jadis delivered this afternoon. The sound was full, sweet and clear with the meters of my amps showing tenths of watts and yes thunderous into the 500s, connsistent character in between. I don't know which nuances you refer to.

Where I do take exception is laying it on any single product. Give me the freedom to choose cart, arm and phono and I could "pimp out" a Scout. LOL
If taming what's actually in the grooves is required, I could do that too.

If anything the higher model TDs deviate from what is normally associated with vinyl playback. That it is always warm, a bit rolled off, the same things associated with tubes basically. No the 1s are not cuddly teddybears. This isn't for that kind of listener. It's for those who want to extract every last bit of information while doing the least harm. With all the whining about systems not being able to approach the dynamics of live, I fail to see how choosing a dynamically challenged component is wiser than dealing with say the sharp edges of the dynamics instead.
