I am going to make decision tomorrow morning.

If my goddess of sound whisper yes to me while asleep tonight, then I will go for it.

Otherwise, I will pass it. ;)

Well, for us it'll be much more interesting if you buy them so I hope you get some good news overnight! ;)

This LM3 speaker is not imported by dealer network. If so, the price shall be more than 30K$.

Even with that, if I decide to sell it in the future, the used price shall be around 10K$.

Thus as soon as I pull the trigger for this speaker, I have to be prepared for loss of 7k$.

It is going to be expensive toy as second system.

The more expensive products are extravagant DACs.

Some DAC like MSB Select cost 90K$.

As soon as you buy it, you have to be prepared for loss of 40K$ or more.

The Aliexpresss sale ends at midnight on March 31st Pacific time.

I am about to take a flight to Seattle now.

After being back to my home, I have around 6 hours to make decision.

I will listen to my Lansche 4.1 again to find out whether I need second system.

I did not pull the trigger for LM3 before expiry of sale.

1. After being back to my home, I found my current system to be musical enough to enjoy most of music.

2. I do not have enough room to have two speakers side by side in my third floor listening space.

Thus if I get LM3, I have to set up separate listening space in my living room on the second floor.

It is a lot of work which I require permission from my wife.

I may have to spend additional 10k$ to buy diamond necklace for my wife to get her permission. ;)

3. I wish to have a chance to audition it before making purchase.

Thomas

Truth be told Thomas - I agree with your decision - but was hooping like hell you took the "leap of faith".

I have done it with amps - owned 3 amps I have never heard before buying - but not speakers.

With blind shopping, it is safer to buy used one.

Even if you decide to sell it again, it will incur less loss.

On this forum a lot of deaf people are shopping blind, so usually loads of loss

LOL. I did recently buy a DAC blind, but fortunately I had made a refund deal. Eventually didn't like it. Some loss, but not loads of. So count me half deaf ;)

There's no chance I'd ever do that with an expensive amp, *way* too risky! Once I bought a $700 amp, but that was for fun and to have a back-up. I also once bought a $65 (yes, $65) class D amp from Amazon to break in my speakers. Sounds embarrassingly good, no kidding.

For me listening in shops, shows or short time listening in friend's systems is almost equivalent to blind shopping. The nice thing about these collective auditions is that usually there is a lot of bias due to group pushing, everything sounds better ...

IMHO, audiophiles need some empathy with a product to really appreciate it for practical purposes. Marketing people know about it, and most literature is tilted towards creating this feeling with prospective buyers.

Unless you do home audition for at least 2 days, you can not judge it properly.

I agree with you that one or two hour listening at strange settings is close to blind shopping.

It would have been fun to see if you like them but I agree with your decision. :)

Thanks

I am curious whether I can tame this horn speakers with my cables and other tools to the voicing that I want.
Well, I have heard the full replica system from line magnetic both at shows and at the workshop of AcousticPlan (a high end German electronics maker) and think it’s pretty awesome as long as you don’t get too bothered by a bit of horn colorations. I heard them both with Acoustplan amps and the line magnetic lm 219ia. The AcousticPlan amp was a bit more refined but the big LM219 is a great amp for low money. If I had space for such a big horn it would be on my list to audition at least (although I think I prefer some of the newer, less colored horns like Aries Cerat Symphonia or for a lot less money horns Universum, Tune Audio Anima, Odeon No.38, Dynamikks 12.18 etc.). Still I think this replica of ancient tech has real musical merits and can bring a realism that many less overtly colored simply cannot.

My experience has been the opposite

Esoteric A03 - Sounds better than I had imagined it to be
Dartzeel 108 - Also sounds better than I imagined it would - though different to the Esoteric - not by as much as you would think
Hardly surprising really - both a dual mono design - both invest LOTS in their power configurations - both use Bipolar transistors

Both bought at a GREAT PRICE - used - or as I like to say - run in for me.
