Engstrom Eric

Does anyone have experience with this piece? They look lovely but I can't really tell what they sound like based on the only review i can find on Mono & Stereo.

https://www.monoandstereo.com/2018/11/engstrom-eric-tube-power-amplifiers.html

I believe they powered the Gobel Divin Noblesse without any trouble but has anyone had experience with a less sensitive speaker?

Thanks

Howie

Nope, only heard this model with this speaker...the result was quite good. Heard other models on various speakers with mixed results. I thought the Engstrom amps didn’t sound as good as Kondo on big Living Voice speakers...tonality was not as natural.

Thanks. You mean the sound was more coloured?

Where did the Engstrom play on the LV? Or are you comparing sound of Kondo in LV room at Munich with that of Engstrom in Gobbel or kharma room and then making the claim Engstrom is not as natural as Kondo?

In 2018 LV had two systems, one with kondo as usual and another with Engstrom...

I thought the it bleached (relatively) and missing that flow and feeling of being at an actual event...hifi but not living breathing performers. Missing the forrest for the trees....

Kondo never gave me flow nor live, in any system. Usually just stayed colored and tried to be pretty.

I completely agree with you.
At least on Living Voice, I much prefer Kondo.
Compared to the Kondo amplification on LV, the Engsström amplification sounded a little less natural and less alive

Shot this in 2017.

Bright and lively on Martens, no question. I quite liked it. A bit too much, maybe. Definitely had a KR tube sound signature. Unsurprising.

Wasn't impressed this year on the Gobels. TBH I don't like the Noblesse or Divin. They both sound pretty dead to me.

Still haven't heard a Marten system I liked...heard many models and with all kinds of amps...bright is the what I consistently hear...
