I would love to know how the Extreme sounds with the Kalista DAC ...
Me too.
But this XVX owner plays only LP and silver discs and probably doesn't have any interest in CAS/streaming.
He is well-heeled and has been into this hobby for several decades. His software library is huge, a lot of vintage LP & CDs.

Interesting combo for that gentleman alright-though I doubt big Bhudda in the old Sound Chamber days would've paired Goldmund with Wilsons:rolleyes:!

Wislon - Goldmund was an usual pairing in some countries in Europe in the late 80's/ 90's - I remember Hifi Station 2001 was the distributor of both brands in France. French HiFi magazines had many photos of such systems, including old WAMMs with Goldmund - they were shown in the room behind this large round top window.

The owner of Europe Audio Diffusion, the french distributor of Wislon has now a permanent pair of the new WAMMs in another chateau, but with Audio Research.

Just one data point, but I have a friend whose opinion I greatly respect who went to demos in the same room (but different associated components) of the Master Chronosonic and the XVX, and he preferred the XVX. I wonder if preference for the Master Chronosonic or the XVX is primarily a function of the size of the room in which the system will be located.

At the demo of the Master Chronosonic + Master Subsonics he and I attended together I was much more impressed with the loudspeaker system than he was.

Ah that's interesting Micro--yes I am sorta familiar with the Goldmund eulogy of that period and the latter 90's falling out with the big UK Importer.

Re my initial query on the Goldmund Amps with Wilson, it took me back to when I tried sets of Cello Performance II's on my X-1's and there was no drive at all --I thought Goldmund used Choke supplies as well and maybe that was a reason they may not be completely amiable with the big Wilsons.

Anyway I could be wrong in my assumption being purely subjective on my part and over 25years ago!

Thanks for the info

That photo looks like a perfect example of how to pack too large a speaker into a small space! With the hard glass of the TV between the speakers and the proximity of the ceiling to the speaker tops...I wonder how much of the performance that these speakers are capable of is the owner realizing~

I´m sure Wilson Audio and their dealers are masters in the art of setting up speakers to sound their best in the room where they´re placed and would have advised against installing them if fantastic results weren´t possible, I´m also convinced they´re most likely realizing their full potential in THAT room and what´s more important, the owner was capable of realizing his dream.

If a room is as much as 50% of the sound/investment a picture speaks 1000 words. Those speaks are roughly 340K, how much investment was made in the rooms? Not meaning to be harsh but man......

Sorry to say but i dont like those rooms very much .
The speakers deserve better , the rooms look also way to small for good speaker/ room coupling.
Forced love can't last.

That second room seems hardly wider than 12 feet, which is what I have. And I decided that for my room a monitor/subwoofer system would be best (even though the room is 24 feet long). Don't stuff a too large speaker into a not large enough room.

And my room is acoustically tricked out, this one is not.

Edit 01-13-20: Someone removed the post with the picture of that second room, perhaps because of embarrassment?

That first photo is a delight for the eyes. The massive LP cover shaped monitor alone would've been worth posting it for. Whoever this is has surpassed critique.

One has to wonder if the dealer made the suggestions for a smaller speaker in these rooms?

And the customer persisted and of course they don't want to a lose a sale on this scale?

Or maybe they are indeed Photoshop fakes :)

The acquisition and installation of the speakers shown in post #450 (not fake) was documented by the owner in great detail in another forum. They replaced Wilson Alexx. The owner was initially very concerned with his room/fit but persisted with Wilson input and seems quite happy with the results.

To me if you buy a wilson chronosonic speaker it means you wanna go all out.
Real estate can be a concern off course, thats another discussion.
I m not a cables/ tweaks guy but speakers room amps must work as a system.
A speaker is just a building block
One could build a top notch system with an alexx as well (everything needs to be in perspective and tuned.)
A top room can only bring the absolute top level sound expirience
May be M lavigne should start giving courses.

I keep thinking however that with all that mids membrane surface area this was designed to work with a basstower.
I could be wrong off course.
Actually with this i mean the first original Chronosonic design not this one .
