I think Houston just got lucky because the lakers abandoned their game plan. They could have pummeled the Rockets into foul trouble by the third quarter WHILE saving their legs.

That saiid, Covington gets an A+ for his defense from me. The Rockets also seems to have exposed what the Laker's last piece should be. A ball handler that is not slowed down by pressure D. LAL range in terms of pace and tempo changes looked very limited by comparison just like their Coach Vogel's.

Well Jack, I was just about to ask where Covington came from, as I vaguely recall he played for the Sixers a few years ago. The guy can shoot. Philly traded him to the Wolves and just a few days ago he got traded to the Rockets, who signed him in the first place in 2013 as an undrafted player. At 6'7" he is tall enough to defend the 'mediums'. :)

And how bout Vince Carter, just turned 43 years old, played tonight for the Hawks, 24 minutes, 10 points and 9 rebounds and no load management. :D

Report: Kobe Bryant memorial set for Feb. 24 at Staples Center

Stefanie Dazio | The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A public memorial service for Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven others killed in a helicopter crash is planned for Feb. 24 at Staples Center, a person with knowledge of the details told The Associated Press on Thursday.

The arena is where Bryant starred for the Los Angeles Lakers for two decades and the date 2/24 corresponds with the No. 24 jersey he wore and the No. 2 worn by his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

No official announcement about the memorial has been made. The person who provided the information to the AP is knowledgeable about the planning and spoke only on condition of anonymity. The Los Angeles Times was first to report the event, citing two anonymous sources with knowledge of the planning.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has said a memorial would be held but his office had no immediate comment, nor did the Lakers or Staples Center.

Staples has played host to other memorials, including for Michael Jackson and, last year, for rapper Nipsey Hussle.

Bryant was killed Jan. 26 when the helicopter carrying him, his daughter and the others crashed into a mountainside in Calabasas while flying to a girls basketball tournament at his Mamba Sports Academy. Gianna's team was coached by Bryant and was playing in the tournament.

No cause for the crash has been determined, though a preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board is expected soon.

A basketball game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies is scheduled for Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Staples Center, according to the arena's website.

A public memorial for Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and daughter Alyssa will be held Feb. 10 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Also killed in the crash were Bryant friends Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester and her daughter Payton.

Lakers are 5-5 over their last 10 games and have lost all of the edge they had at the onset of the season. Clipps are poised fora takeover of fiesta and I expect it to happen soon.

Too many good teams in the league, especially in the West

6'7" with a wingspan of 7' 3" 2nd game in and the lowly Suns figured them out. They let them drive and denied the three. BLOWOUT!

Haha, I was wondering about that too, great game over Lakers and lost to a lower ranked Suns (who are actually dangerous on any given night given Devin Booker's exploits). What D'Antoni should do is to hire Thibs as his defensive coach .

Meanwhile, the C's have been winning some games lately though injuries continue to hit them, 2 starters down and when they came back, 2 other starters go down. Time and Flying Lord Robert Williams has missed 2 months and we miss his blocks and loud alley oops already. Ainge made no trade moves, and he said prior to the deadline, the C's most important need is Health. So true. Tatum is an All-Star now and is sizzling hot, we have our 'star'.

I wish I could figure the Clipps. Both PG and Kawhi playing against a mediocre Wolves team and got slaughtered 142-115

on paper no team comes close. I truly believe they are playing only hard enough to stay in contention It’s all about the playoffs and winning it all. The season itself seems only secondary

Lakers continue to struggle in closing out weaker teams. Again give up a 20
point lead and struggle to win against GSW

125-120

Wiggins and Pascal are huge additions for GSW. They will be a contender next year.

I really like Wiggins.
He is such an elegant and smooth player and that he is a Warrior now comes very unexpectec but very welcome for me :D
I really hope the Worriors are coming back with a vengeance next year: strong and healthy

Clippers get crushed by the lowly Timberwolves?

That was a shock. Half the Wolves team were never played a game for them before, traded at the deadline.

And both Kawhi and PG played.
I thought Lakers struggled with a rejuvenated Warriors.Lakers were out gunned by Wiggins.
warriors have a lot to look forward to next year just to tighten things up a little more in the West

The Clippers give me riddles o_O
I need them for preventing the self declared king entering the finals

you're killing me.....

although I believe the Lakers will struggle through the playoffs and I am not convinced they have what it takes to go the distance but having said that, the King is becoming ancient on his throne and if he doesn't win this year I believe the Lakers chances of her winning while he is a Laker are either slim or none. Plus I really like AD as the future of the Lakers and his agent has always said he will enter free agency after the end of the season. This is hopefully posturing but unless the Lakers win it all, AD could walk

For me AD is probably the best (healthy) player at the moment and I really like him but I detest the self declared king so I root for every team that can end the season for the "king".
Get rid of him and I root for the Lakers, at least every time they play against LeBum :p:D

as I watch LeBron play, IMO he is missing a lot more of the shots that he used to make with ease and his free throws seem to suffer even worse. Problem is he is strong as a bull and when he takes the ball to the basket you need to get out of the way. Having said that IMO he has reached his pinnacle and still has flashes of greatness but for me AD is the future of the Lakers
