Love your slang words...Foo and Duff. LoL

Just take of the sleeves and resolder connections if possible.

Sounds good I agree. It isn't possible, though. At least not for me. And I don't need them to work.

I might take them if not an issue for you. I'm waiting to order those which you suggested anyhow and said that they are good ones.

Long time no speak Norman. Buying a house for weekends soon. May have to pull out some tubes from the archive to sell. What are people playing with these days?

Hi Shawn.

Ad1 is popular as is RD27xxx.

In TRP land its 5881, KT77 and vintage EL34.

Rectis are about the RKs, Acme and exotic 274bs.

I don't have any of those. The sockets are too bizarre for my to make adapters on. I peaked making the 46 work for me... Heh. I was just looking at my pile of WE stuff and thought I might sell something to get some work done at the house. We will see.

Well, the key thing I was thinking about selling is a quad of second quarter 1967 Western Electric 300B tubes. Bought from a Bell Engineer. Original boxes. All test at 100%+ on a TV-7 and a WE-Cardmatic. Perfect for the person with the Lampizator balanced Pacific. Meet the right price and I will throw in a 274B, but I sadly don't have a NOS one from 1967, it will have to be a 1969 or a used one. My sole engraved base 274 is a 274a.

As some of you know, I have a hoard of tubes and 90% are WE. The big deal for me is that I don't have to sell any of them, but figure it is better to sell 4 tubes than use all real cash on a new roof (solar).

I also have 2-3 348As I have been holding. Only one of those is NOS, but they are all testing very good. Also have 328As (4-5) and a ton of 310As.

Dave, if you ever want a tube, you know you can always email me.

I will take serious offers. I will not, however, accept trades (unless you want to put a solar roof on for me) and these are not going at a discount.

Shawn

Just to please my curiosity, what is the typical right price for such set of 4 WE 300b's? The Marantz Project T1's use 8 of them!

Micro love the new amp project and am sure that the Marantz T1 is awesome but using 8 x 1967 Nos WEs at a time in any setup, that’d be a bit like buying a brace of Bugatti Veyrons for daily drivers or spooning a bucket of beluga and truffles onto a super McHappy meal.

It depends on how long they last ... I would love to have reliable data on this aspect before inserting the WD's and Cetron's, I am still using the chinese originals that come with the amplifier.

Anyway the Vivaldi stack/XLF do not have any resemblance with a super McHappy meal ... ;) They sound really awesome with the T1.

The Marantz Project sounds like they could make you very McHappy (and I mean that in the best of ways). Looking forward to reading your thoughts on these lovely beasts.

That is hard to say. Nothing more than a pair has sold recently on the auction site. That traded hands at around $5,800 for the pair (Not $20k on the engraved base that TubeDepot wants). I would think that it would be at least a base price in the $11k range, plus rarity of 4 that rolled out of the same production/case, so that will drive it up.

Some may say the value is down because new ones from the company claiming to be WE will release them in quads for $3100... If they were anything like those made in the late 90s, early 2000s, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole. You cannot make the plate or filament material the way the original WE 300Bs were made anymore. Environmental laws won't allow it (if the EPA gets defunded and regs rolled back, maybe that could happen again, but not as it stands today (thank god)). You just cannot get those isotopes for the filament anymore... 40k hour rated. The ones from the late 90s, 2000s didn't last even 5,000 hours.

Not really interested in selling them alone. They won't move the needle enough on my project and I use them. I will hold them for now (unless part of a broader package). This is the prize in my 274 collection...
