I wonder why listening to the linked file here sounds so different from hearing it on YouTube.

Good catch. Don't know why but I always listen direct to youtube. From my experience, The sound degrades from my Samsung file to Youtube to linked file of youtube.

An MFSL that is good? Interesting.
Try. There is still some near mint on Discog at around $30. But make sure you get the 1980 not the 1981 just to be on the same page as mine. I don't think the General really cares which Label as long as it sounds decent enough. He even sent me a record that was digitally recorded. I also don't mind as long as it sounds good. :)

you have to buy the 1980's MFSL that are pressed in Japan. Far superior to the current MFSL.
Hi Jeff,

You are a jazz person. Do you have a few Monty Alexander's on hand? This guy is good and his recordings are good. Listen to this system...no..listen to the music and the recording. The album is "So What?" The label is Black and Blue, a French pressing recorded in Geneva.

Edit: Talk about the system, this simple system sounds a lot better than a few million dollar systems I have heard. And it is digital .

Yes Tang....that is great sound! It shows what you can achieve with vintage speakers. I have several Monty Alexanders, my favorite is the album that is playing....live on Pablo.

With some acoustical room treatment that tune ^ would sound even more marvelous.

And if you noticed it's a live room without tampons:)!

Swingle Singers on vinyl, and the time machine will be complete. I can almost smell the burnt solder of my Dad's Heathkit.

I wonder if anyone would like an inline EQ that is either 100% bypassed or turned on for mono albums that are obviously not meant to be listened to on-axis. It's very clear a lot of them were made with the intention of the speaker being off out of the way. I've been trying out other Scheherade's. The mono one is actually pretty well recorded but as you can hear on-axis it's just EQ'd unpleasantly.

Same volume (plus a wookie), different album, easy on-axis.

A lot going on about power cleaning products in two threads. I would like to give some tangible example on the type of sound I heard in my system with power cleaner vs no power cleaner. Listen to these two videos. These are not the video of power cleaner vs straight line. They are videos of two different pressings of the Royal Ballet. One is a modern Analog Production issue, the other is a pressing way back around 1960. But They represent many characteristics I normally heard using cleaner vs straight line. The Analog Production sounds exciting, clean, low noises, louder (I had to increase the volume when played old pressing to match), more pronounced sound across all instruments with a zoom in presentation. The old pressing just sound further, naked, raw, more see through into the stage, more hall ambient, more differentiation, contrast, less exciting, less clean, more transparent but more noisy. The Analog Production resembles the power cleaner. Many people will say I am stupid to compare apple to mango even to pineapple. That is ok. Sometime realization will come.

Very tough Tang to discern the difference.
* Notice that I'm not present with you in your room.
You have a great ability picking out sound. I am surprised you said this Bob. This is the first time you have difficulty hearing differences in my videos.

I have the new one. It's one of the few new albums that sounds good.
