I had been using Lansche 4.1 since 2007.

http://stereotimes.com/speak112410.shtml

It has pristine treble out of with plasma tweeter and nice bass out of two 10 inch active woofer and high efficiency(99db/w spec but real no is close to 95db/w) suitable for Small power SET amplifier.

Although it is pretty dynamic compared with most speaker, I had been lusting for more dynamics and powerful bass.

I got used Scaena 3.2 speaker January this year.

I had to be in Korea during February to attend funeral of my mother.

But I could not assemble main tower yet without someone helping me during lockup.

Thus I started using its two 18 inch carbon and kevlar composite subwoofers in addition to Lansche 4.1.

I use digital crossover of Lyngdorf 2170 to feed 40 hz up (highpass) to Line Magnetic 508 for driving Lansche 4.1 and 50 hz down to two bridged Crown XLS 2502( 2400W for 4 ohm) for driving two 18 inch subwoofers.

Now I got solid bass foundation, more natural dynamics and deeper soundstage.

Line Magnetic SET amplifier(48watt) sounds more clean and relaxed without need to drive subbass signal under 40 hz.

Nice thing of Scaena 18 inch subwoofer is that it sound tight and fast but not overbearing or bloated.

Someday, I need to assemble main tower of Scaena speaker to place them side by side with Lansche 4.1.

But now I am so happy with the sound out of Lansche 4.1 augmented by two 18 inch subwoofers, I am not in a hurry.

Indeed they can. Make a system sing that is. Of course a well-positioned pair of full-range speakers can do so well by themselves so that a subwoofer is not required except for perhaps a few Hertz down.

But yes, when properly dialed in it's rather amazing how the entire performance becomes so much more cohesive and exhilarating.

BTW, nice system you have there and sorry to hear of your recent loss.

Thanks a lot for your kind word.

I use Accuhase Digital Eq to integrate the main speakers with 18 inch subwoofers.

It seems to work well.

Looks interesting! Very much like my speakers. I have these (or more specifically the older model, but its the same principle):

The best subs for these speakers:

Have you tried putting your subs at the same level as the speakers? For me that made a very big positive difference. In the end I used a laser measurement on a photo stand to get the exact same distance of the two speakers ans two subs.
