Did I miss something? That clip showed nothing. Zero, zip, nada. When is it going to be released?

Bud, there is no trailer yet. This is only the very first outlook.
The video clip is only one fan's impression.
There will be more to come, with trailers eventually, depending also of the pandemic, of course.
The article's link mentioned more ... set to open December 18 ... all depending.

"Dune, still set to open on December 18, is one of the blockbusters that hasn’t yet shifted back due to the coronavirus outbreak. “Dune was made by people from all over the world. Many of these people are like family to me, and they’re very much in my thoughts,” Villeneuve said. “I’m so proud to showcase their hard work. I look forward to a time when we can all get together again as Dune was made to be seen on the big screen.”

I remember reading Frank Herbert's Dune series books when I was in high school. I loved those books.

Then the first version of the movie came out in 1984 and I was never so disappointed with a movie in my life. It was just terrible - IMHO I guess I should add.

Hope they do a better job this time around. I'll definitely check it out with high hopes.

Maybe you were swayed by Sting's appearance in the film. :)

It as a long time ago but I think the scene where the very large fat guy went spewing around the room that I was repulsed and lost interest.

That's a memory from 35 years ago so I could be wrong.

Well, Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners, Incendies) is a very capable filmmaker, from Quebec, Canada.
I have great confidence in him and his team.

And I too like the Original 'Dune' (1984) by David Lynch.
Someday I should write a full review ... after the storm ...

Only if something nice inside.
Personally, I don't know why the film is hated so.
Yes, it missed out 90% of the novel(s).
And David Lynch had no idea what he was doing.
And Toto was probably a poor choice for the theme music Lol.
But as a synergy of wealth of fantastic character actors, down the line serious mood and intent, amazing Art Deco imagining of the future, properly dislikeable villains, and suitably gross-out moments, it's hard to beat.
Honourable failure, but it's varied triumphs make it watchable over and over.
Then again, I love Black Rain w Michael Douglas and Strange Days w Ralph Fiennes lol. Love my films w lots of cheese...but only if the acting and directing and set design is taking itself 100% seriously...the first Dune film did just that.

By my will alone I put my mind in motion...

I thought the 'mood' of the film was wonderful, close to being on par in quality with the mood of Bladerunner. Its characterizations made the fantastical book come alive. The universe and economy of Dune is intricate and fascinating though I found the book itself a bit less compelling.

Tim, heartily agree. Blade runner is still my go-to cinematic piece of Heaven. Brilliant in every way, better year on year.

Dune 1984 doesn't compare fully. But for me, sci fi needs total commitment from its actors and set design if it's gonna work. Script and direction can suffer and not ruin sci fi, the opposite for more conventional drama.

And so, I can watch 2001, Planet Of The Apes, Silent Running, Dark Star, Star Wars, Solaris, Close Encounters, Alien, Empire Strikes Back, Blade Runner, Dune on a loop and watch them over and over.

Can I throw Logans Run into the mix?

Which Solaris do you like, Spirit? Tarkovsky's magnificent original, or Soderbergh's godawful remake? Can you tell which way I lean?

Er, you're old school.
I also prefer Police Academy 1 to 9.
Solaris...I still don't get it
But like 2001, I love to let it wash over me.
I know nostalgia is a curse, but w movies, it's true...the 70s kills.

I am so excited for this. They are saying that Book 1 will be broken up into 2 films as De Laurentis should have done.

Anybody notice that the key roles are full of MCU stars with FOX and DCU stars thrown in? Talk about generating pull from casting alone!
