I listen 2 hours, listening same song both on AF3P and later on Vyger and always same difference and i like both,Techdas more simple to use and is impressive his bass and mid, very good

But at the end the difference are like you listen a classic record 33 rpm on techdas and same record but 45 rpm on Vyger, always more fast and dynamic and instrument litter bigger

I like my Opus 1 on AF3P :)

TechDAS customized platforms on Artesania Racks are from Krion, an artificial stone.
I am using even the TechDAS Acoustic Glass platform. Both are giving a higher resolution and a leaner tonal balance than thick wood. In my set up, the AF3P is more on the lean and neutral side, together with the current Audio Tekne platter weight the mids do get the weight and contour I like.

Is the AF3P any real competition to the SX-8000?

I preferred SX 8000 MkII over AF3 , but prefer AF3P over both.

Possibly SX8000 would become best if paired with a better motor like Dereneville,
as the turntable chassis as such is just a perfect development.

Hello,

Shakti, how do you compare the AF3P to the J Sikora Reference?

AF3P is better in all criteria (at least for me and in my set up)

Thank you for the answer. I asked because I have the opportunity to buy a used AF3, the first model. I know that they made improvements in the newer one, the air baring platter, the air pump unit, etc., but unfortunately is not in my price range. I also know, from what I read here that you consider a major update the Premium, but I am asking myself, what to consider further: the AF3 or J Sikora Reference (or maybe the Standard, it seems to me 80% of the Reference at half the price).
You opinion is important, because you have/had them at home, in you sistem. Not like me or others how hear them at shows where the conditions are not proper for critical listening.
The AF3 I heard it at a friend, in his sistem and didn't enjoy it so much.

If you did not like the AF3 in the System of your friend, you have given yourself the answer, that you should look for a J Sikora Reference :)

I am personal biased, as I started my analog journey with Micro Seiki , and TechDAS is giving me my familiar house performance including the flexibility of 4 tonearms.

I do see the performance of the AF3 MkI more close to the current AFV than to the AF3P.

nice small tuning for all AF3 and AF3P user:

The small Artesania Damping plate fits very good on top of the motor assembly and kills all motor vibrations.
The sonic effect is small , but clearly noticeable as more contour and sharper edges on instruments and voices.

The recommended retail price in Germany is 150,- eur, which is, at least for me, a kind of no brainer for the improvement.

I see a press release in Japan last month for a new AF3P S model. The only difference is suspension footers instead of rigid. It also says you can buy the footers separately for your original AF3P.

To my knowledge, In Germany the S Mode will be optional. similar to former Micro Seiki RX 1500 times, rigid feets and feets with auspension will become available. Standard are the rigid feets. Depending on the rack, feets with lights suspension might be the better choice. Option price as set of 4 will be below 3k eur ((In Germany)

My AF3P is placed on an Accurion i4L active base, so the rigid feets are the best way to go, so I will not change to the new suspension feets.

Do you think a Minus K platform would be a good option for AF3P? What other options are available? Stacore, HRS?

Thank you,
Aziz

I am using the Accurion i4L active base, better as HRS or CMS, not yet compared to others.

Thank you, this a new brand to me, if it’s better or even as good as HRS, that says a lot. This is an active solution similar to Herzan, isn’t it? I’ve read some posts that active platforms may “kill” sound with some TT. Have you found any negative effects from using this solution. How does it change the sound of your TT?

The history of Accurion started with Herzan, both have the same company history and developed the former technical solution in slightly different ways in different companies further. I found the PSU of the Accurion better, no hum and noises. Many Herzan users do update their platform in this regard, not needed for Accurion. As with all turntable bases, they are a compromise. My house is more than 130 years old and the wooden floor vibrates accordingly. Only an active base can handle this, so I accept the compromises in other areas. Herzan users do add mostly a Panzerholz top, I decided to use the Artisania acoustic glass platform as top plate to increase the area of damping effectiveness.

The turntable base is the interface between the turntable and your rack, your room, your house.

You have to find an individual matching interface.

The nowadays available 2 different foot solutions from TechDAS do help in this regard.
