Given this is the "what's best" forum, and we're talking about $4000 switches and $26k servers, I expected folks would gravitate towards the best PSUs — knowing how important PSUs are across the chain. So to hear a lot of mention of Plixir and Keces makes me curious to know if they are indeed in that category of "best PSUs," as I have never heard them.

Or at least mildly curious, as I'm very happy with my SR-7 multirail DR supplies. Hopefully someone has done the comparisons.
Hi Rajiv,
I have no experience with the mentioned LPS like the Keces and Plixir, though my friend does have an Elementa version from Plixir and says it's "OK". Personally, I have a Farad incoming soon and have tried sps-1000 and LPS1.2s' on my set up and felt they took away the speed and dynamics that I love I get when using sps-500 which is of course a SMPS.
As for the PH SR-7, just from reviews from the many users and reading that its been widely accepted as the holy grail, "The King" of LPS, I can assume the rest are just pretenders to the throne, but as you suggested, a nice shoot of some of the best LPS that Asia can offer going up against the rest of the world would be a drooling one, cause as they say, "Assumption is the mother of all F#@K Ups".

Hi Abyss Man,

What were you powering with the LPS 1.2?
I wonder if the less that stellar performance was related to it working near its maximum capacity of 12V/1.1A.

It was my sms-200 and I tried it on my txusb as well.

I have never had the experience of seeing let alone using the other top brands of LPS. Having said that the Plixir appears to me to be extremely well built. James from Plixir is a pleasure to deal with and his service is amazingly quick and responsive. His prices are very reasonable too imho.

Interesting read. I know it may not belong hear, but since so much of this thread is about tweaking the SGM Extreme and this is the only thread I follow, I figured what the heck. Has anyone undertaken this project? Are you glad you did? It makes sense to me and I am considering doing it. My outlets are 90ft from my fuse box so 6 gage it is.
Thanks for any input.

I could never find a good circuit breaker with silver or silver tungsten contacts for use in the U.S. In fact, distributors I spoke with had never heard of such a thing. There is a company in Europe making a circuit breaker for that market, but I don't recall their name offhand. They have no plans to introduce a similar product for the North American market.

Not yet an Extreme owner, but I modified my mains distribution similar to this MSB article.
I have a dedicated line (AWG 5) from the mains distribution box to my set-up in the living room and I am absolutely glad I did it together with some other mains wiring mods.
The main effect is that you are able to listen at much higher SPLs without distorsion, the dynamics are enhanced, the music is much more lifelike and has a better expression of PRaT and slam.
Improving the power distribution to a system is a tweaking which gets my highest recommendation :)

hi Matt,

i'm assuming you were referring to this section of the MSB reference link you posted. the link is not specific to this choice.

Vince does know his power grid stuff and always talks about this.

Hi Mike,

yes, a direct link to this article is unfortunately not possible.

Just a small add.
I do not use wall sockets. I build a distribution box with one AWG 5 as input and multiple AWG 11 outputs which terminate directly into the main sockets (Neutrik PowerCon 32A) of my devices.

As best I can tell, neither GigaWatt nor Doepke circuit breakers are compatible with the North American grid.
Hi there,
I’m going to have both installed on my return home, so I’ve done a pretty thorough internet search for information. So far what I’ve read agrees with your statement that the products are not compatible with the US power grid but if I read anything different I’ll let y’all know.

To share, a Dutch company specialised in power products (circuit breakers, power cables, fuses, etc with the unique possibility to do A-B comparisons) has recently added the Gigawatt circuit breaker into his assortment, in the attached newsletter his findings. Please note the bunch of demo/pre-loved other circuit breakers now for sale at the bottom of the same newsletter..

Newsletter is in Dutch language, I guess nothing google can’t handle:

Visit to Heneglo

Yesterday was my first visit to Hengelo in 3 months. There has been a lot of intense development going on during the last 6 weeks and I was very excited by the progress and results. Beta testing at Extreme customer locations also started yesterday and we are getting good data.

As always, the customer experience is Taiko's number one priority

If any Extreme owner wants to know more details about what's coming then feel free to send me a PM. Emile and the team are burning the mid night oil, so please don't burden them with questions about this project
