I have to say Bob that whenever you post pictures of your gear I am like a kid in toy land at Christmas. Nice to share your odyssey with all of us readers

Pilium power amp has very fast response and deep texture.

In Korea, Pilium is called as "Reasonable DarTZeel".

Very awesome products~!!!

Hi Bob, you have a real knack of discovering new, awesome gear. What is unique sounding about the Pilium amps? Does the sonic signature hold as you switch speakers - the Magicos, Alsyvox, or Bayz?

How do they sound different than Constellation? Other hyped up brands of today like Soulution and CH Precision?

Hi Caeser,

Thx, somehow I think they find me:) Although I am closely connected (non-WBF) with a LOT of audio guys around the globe.

The Pilium somehow, just sounds more "liquid" to me than all the other SS brands that I have heard over the years, which includes pretty much all of the big names. Pilium is very fast and clear, with great transparency but with a LOT of texture. I think all the big names sound REALLY great at this point, they have all come a long way. I think I could live with any of them and make great music.

Foe me personally Pilium also transcends the need for tubes. That's just me, others will still want a tube system, I don't feel the need any longer personally. But I get it, tubes do their own thing.

The Pilium I have found is even preferred on my 99db Diesis Roma Triode by many visitors. Something about the liquidity again. The Pilium does it all, great power and authority (driver control), great resolution, incredible sound-staging/layering, but all the other brands do that too. The Pilium brings a life, vibrancy and energy with to the presentation that again, for me, is quite satisfying vs others that I have heard.

I also love that it runs very cool to the touch, the only downside is the 280lb weight of the amps.

I realize it's not just me as I've sold I think five full sets of Alexander/Achilles and a two Leonidas (275lb integrated) within the last three months.

My problem is I cannot keep any of the items in stock for my demos. Every time I have received a piece(s) and someone has heard it they want it and they want it now. I have a Leonidas coming within a month and I just received the Elektra dac so that's what I will have for the next few months.

I've mentioned it in another post but I am sending out the Elektra Dac/Alexander pre/4 each Hercules mono amps in September to break in on Alon's M9s as my pair of M9s will not get delivered until Q1 of '21. This set up is for my M9s, but if I was a betting man then I would predict someone will hear the Pilium>>M9s with all Statement TelluriumQ cables and buy the whole system. Then I will have to order it all again. First world problems:)

Thanks. For what it's worth, I find it really strange that Wolf likes to show off his speakers with CH Precision. Not sure whom he's trying to impress, but I find that combination un-listenable; torture, really.

Looking forward to hearing the Piliums one day.

:) I can't wait to show the world Pilium on the M9s! It was a big step for me personally to send $250K worth of Pilium out to Magico, especially after just purchasing M9s, but I truly believe it will be special. Time will tell and the time is not so far away.

Pilium Leonidas- 2 XLR inputs, 3 RCA inputs, two power cords required. Basically two mono amps and a pre in a 280lb chassis.

Bob hello,

Do these Piliums require a 20, or 30 AMP line, i.e whats their power consumption for the units with two power cords? Thanks!

Hi,

Thx for asking.

They use a 20 amp line. Of course dedicated lines are always a good thing. Because of the size and the size of the heat sinks you don't even know they are on by touching the case. They run cool.

The power consumption is about 200W at normal listening levels for the Leonidas integrated or Achilles stereo amp. They are class A/B amps but Pilium has developed an unconventional biasing technique optimized for the circuit that extends linearity and optimizes sonic performance.

It's not your standard 5% or 10% running class A, it is a special Pilium circuit and needs to be heard to be appreciated. The Pilium electronics are VERY powerful but it is the tonal pallete that they provide that create the magic for me personally.

My new Pilium 270 lb demo Leonidas integrated being finished. Assembly will be finished by Friday, then a week of burn in and a few days to get from Greece to Rhapsody. I haven't been able to keep any demos as every unit that I've received I have sold shortly after. I'm keeping this Leonidas and have another Alexander/Achilles coming in another month as well for demonstration units. No more selling my demo units:)

Dear Sir,

Would you be able to comment on the sonic signature of the Pilium amplifiers as compared to the Goldmund's current Next Gen line up, and the Telos 280 since you probably know both lines as good as anyone, I am sure . Thanks so much. Kind regards.
