I thought it was a reference to the rather generous M9 girth below the waist line.

Do these woofers make my ass look big?

Magico has routinely exhibited with CH Precision, Constellation, Soulution at all of the global shows.

At Munich last year, Magico was paired with Soulution, Constellation, and the new TotalDac amp. Having been to the Magico factory in Hayward, CA on several occasions, Magico have also used Berkeley, TotalDac, and now MSB digital front ends in their listening room. Obviously, Alon feels his speakers have good synergy with various components and that there is no absolute best, only "different." Even at the ultra high end, it does come down to "personal preference."

Yes, not saying Alon is not loving the M9s driven with CH P, but my experience is that he/Magico are not tied to one brand, Ch P or any other brand. My opinion only, not speaking for Alon or Magico.

What a bummer......Rhapsody's M9's that are on order were scheduled for delivery in January '21. NOW, Rhapsody has had to give up the January M9 slot to Rhapsody's "first new M9 customer". Magico/Rhapsody will be delivering the first pair of M9s to our new M9 customer in January/February '21 timeframe.

Rhapsody's M9 delivery in NYC will be pushed back to Feb/March '21 timeframe. It's a good first world problem and works out nicely as Rhapsody will be relocating to a larger space in Manhattan, not sure of the exact neighborhood yet, around the time that our M9s will be delivered so, even though it will be a challenge in logistical coordination, the future is looking very bright!

Btw, I REALLY thought that Rhapsody would sell a pair of M9s within a few months of having them on display, I wasn't quite as hopeful as what has unfolded so quickly. Color me satisfied.

Hi Ron, Lot's involved and not going into detail here, other than the order has firmly been placed and delivery scheduled.

Further details will be updated a bit down the road.

You CAN hear the M9s at the factory, available for audition now.

That is a very interesting photograph. Bob, do you know anything about the base? It appears as though there are empowered footers or something like that below a metal plate which is then separated from the back of the speaker by something else. Is the tilt of the speaker adjustable independently of the footers?

It is almost as though that base plate is a constrained layer sandwich separate from the speaker.

The speaker does “float” on/in a massive stand, and the stand feet are these giant MPods so you can level it.

Hello Bob,

Are the Magico subwoofers intended to be able to be used with the M9s?

Hello Bob,

Hi Ron,

The M9s were, for the last octave in music, not designed to "require" the M9 as the M9s go down to 18HZ. For those that want to go down to 15Hz, then yes you can add Q18(s). The Q subs work with the M9s if desired.

I could see adding either Q15's or 18's for HT applications. I could see the SCC center channel, the M9's for R/L, two M2 or M3s for rears:) (sides as well) and then a pair of the Q subs for LFE. I'm actually talking to a client about this type of set up for an upcoming new home in '21/'22.

It all depends on the user's sonic preferences as well as the room, many options are available.

Bob, that apartment shot feels eerily like my London factory loft studio I lived in until 2015. I hope this particular place sounds better, because M9s in my old space would not turn that sow's ear into a silk purse.

Hey Mark, I believe if you placed these new Magico transducers in your current environment...definitely a religious experience :).

Marc, btw, I've been into probably 20+ apartments in NYC that look exactly like this pic that sounded from good to amazing. Can't remember thinking one didn't sound pretty good. Must have been something wrong with your particular room or your system.

I had some very specific issues. Room was nigh on square at 29x27. That expanse 100% concrete plus multiple concrete beams and columns. 70% of my front wall was glass with 3 no. 9x7 windows, no curtains. 29x27 hardwood floor, no carpet. Minimal/zero soft furnishings. One spkr close to side wall, one in free space. Effectively it was a ten-cornered space with its complex pattern of mezzanine and cubby spaces.

So, a fantastic space for this bachelor about town, great view of E. London skyline. And after reading about big rooms hosting sprawling systems, I thought I was made. Sadly, not so.

Large rooms can be a real issue for sonics as we all know. My experience has been hit or miss with large rooms. I've installed systems in large rooms and they sounded great with literally no treatment other than furniture, carpets, wall art etc. Not as good as if you put them in a dedicated treated room, but still very good.

I've also installed systems in large rooms where a lot of work had to be done to get the sound pretty good. Not to an optimal level of what the system would be capable in a dedicated room, BUT as good as possible and to the level that music could be enjoyed without noticing any sonic issues.

Bob, I suspect a few things would have helped. Getting the system in the middle of the room width, rather than purely to one half of my 27' width...as was, one spkr 2' from an LP rack, the other 14' from the other side wall...I'm sure this never helped. Big drapes on the windows, substantial rugs everywhere, would have contributed.

My self same system in this dedicated space, nothing optimised, was as dramatic an indicator that my previous acoustics were poor beyond measure.

Yes, BUT being a bachelor in London with a cool loft could offer other fun things to do vs obsessing over the sound of an audio system:cool:
