I liked the Watchmen TV series but don't believe it will be everyone's cup 'o tea...

My wife and I watched it based on the awards it won.
For us it was just OK. I’m just not a super heroes fan.
We also watched The Umbrella Academy which had a similar theme. Again nothing great but enjoyed watching both .

Umbrella academy is ok but thought watchmen was quite good, as well as first season of the boys. Second season of the boys is pretty poor initially gets better towards the end

First season I really enjoyed, second was ok, gave up after the first two episodes, then started again, it got better towards the end

We enjoyed The Watchmen, too.

Was surprised when my wife recommended it as I thought it was about the graphic novels/sci fi. That is not what she typically likes.

Best to call it an alternate history I suppose.

I'm finally gonna dive into The Wire and Mad Men. I still feel Breaking Bad is close to unparalleled in modern TV, I can't think of another program w such well rounded and believable characters. If you were an actor cast on that show, it will have been the high point of your career. Proved by the subsequent stall in Jesse/Aaron's acting CV since.
And the existential Qs that BB asks, well they're some of the most important ones to men.

The Wire is hard to start, but once you get into it... It’s very well done.. Scary good..
I found Mad Men to drag on and diluted as time went on..
I still watch and enjoy The Simpsons.. Some great writers and satire.. They make fun of everything. Still the first 16 seasons are the best..
I started to watch Top Gear again.. The British originals, not the later American version of it.. I find it timeless even though they test drive cars from years ago.. The interviews and the comedy are Fab in these negative times..

Any opinion on the Designated Survivor or The Queen’s Gambit?

DS is interesting for the first part, then gets too repetitive and they couldn't really build on it.

But I enjoyed it for a few episodes before I realized towards the end of the first season it was going downhill. Second season was hopeless.

Queens gambit is alright. If you have watched some of the better series already mentioned on the thread

Other than the news, and Big Bang Theory reruns, that is it for TV.

Just received my Japanese blu ray boxset complete Columbo. We settled down to watch Ep.1 "Prescription: Murder". Other than 100 mins of Gene Barry is 100 mins too much, just fantastic.

I am happy that Tinka and I have not had a TV in a place we have lived since June of this year. I think TV is an endless time sink.

But I watched a few episodes of Yellowstone today. I think it's actually pretty good!

I have to stop watching . . .

I haven't stopped watching . . . but I have now noticed something very weird:

Horse ranches, homesteads, the big West, Native American reservation poverty, hiking, nature, coyotes, barns, horses, houses, cowboys --- but not one single dog in the entire first season?

I stopped watching Yellowstone. It lost me after Jim Dutton told Zip to get rid of his enemies, and the Yellowstone cowboys kidnapped in broad daylight in the middle of the busy town using trucks emblazoned with Dutton Ranch logos the enemy land developer, and strung him up and hanged him (I know they cut him down before he died) with zero repercussions.

With this episode I feel like the whole thing turned into a dopey "mafia in the country" movie, and I lost interest.

I also thought all of the back-and-forth family drama became ludicrous. For example, John Dutton beat up and forbid his son, Jamie, from becoming Attorney General (which would have been incalculably beneficial for John Dutton) because Jamie didn't answer his phone on time?

But dogs finally made an appearance -- during a herding operation.

TV was fun for a day!

So I gave Yellowstone one more chance this morning. I turned it back on just in time to see Jamie, the attorney who is running for Attorney General, strangling and murdering the reporter who interviewed him.

So I liked the first season, which, according to TV review sites, apparently was the least popular of the three seasons.

I am unplugging the TV for good!
