That is a tough one, looks like u can get 3 on non-perforated areas except for that one corner, hopefully Joe will advise. I would still expect it to sound better than none even though one is on the perforated area.

So now we are confronted with different versions of Extremes ?
I'd like to know how many versions are out there. Based on the exacting nature of Extreme I would think there is a desired version....

I looked better and mine is the same as yours. Having said that from your photo you can see where good application for the feet is

Um not really. Perforations everywhere

Front of Extreme is on left

Hi Kingsrule

One of the components I used to develop the feet has a combination of flat and long vented surfaces underneath. It's not identical to the extreme perforations. But given that, It might even be a bit worse for contact area than what I am seeing here. I can't know for sure because I can't judge the scale from the photo.

The key is to focus on the gasket atop the foot. The foot is designed to channel energy through the gasket.

I tried to set up my feet as similarly to the extreme photo as I could. My system has been playing nonstop for hours with the feet rearranged. I'm not hearing a change in performance and this would have happened by now. This leads me to conclude that performance relative to placement, in some cases, could be component specific. I can't know the optimal result the 1.5s would bring to the extreme, but I don't doubt Steve's ears (or yours). I know him well enough to say that he has no tolerance for mediocrity and I think you are the same. So, I suggest you go with the "King's Rule". Is it better or worse than before.....

I hope this helps a bit.

All the Best

Joe.

Well, first Santa arrived with his Shunyata Omega XC and now "the Magi". It has been a good end of the year.

For the foot break, do you have to play music through the DAC or can it be turned off?

It is ok if I leave the DAC playing music, but I turn off pre amp and amp?

That’s an interesting question as I’m going to defer to Joe. My impression however is that the feet settle quicker if you play music through your speakers

I’m interested in getting CS 2 feet for use with my Mephisto amp. Which size do I need? Probably 1.5? I understand, that I should put the feet next to the stock feet and not directly under them. Is that correct?
Thanks in advance.

It is important that you measure the height of the Mephisto's feet. From the pictures they seem quite tall and almost certainly that the 1.0 with its 25 mm height would not be enough. The 1.5 is 38mm.

Unfortunately Mephisto‘s feet are almost 50mm. I’ll have to check if they can be removed.

If you check my thread under Gryphon titled "Mephisto bottom end" I show pics of the bottom of the Mephisto and discuss removing the feet.

Hi micro 13

I checked out the Symposium website. Let me say they are a long respected company which produces high quality products. Having said this, our companies use different materials in our construction processes and I think therein lies the reason for the performance issue you are experiencing. In my experience, CS2 products are not compatible with suspended stainless steel shelves.

Again, Symposium is a fine company. We simply differ in approach and results. In order to experience the performance potential of CS2 you would need a buffer between the SS rack shelves and the aluminum feet. Folding the silk bags the CS2 come with and slotting them under the CS2 feet should work, I think. I wish it were not the case, but I don't know of any way around it.

I sincerely hope this helps.

All the Best

Joe
Hi Joe,

many thanks for your considerations, I already feared that CMS and Symposium are not compatible.
Probably in the next two weeks I'm getting the CS2 1.5, I'll try your advice with the folded silk bags and report back. I also thought to try an Ikea bamboo cutting board as a buffer, what do you think about that?

Regarding the incompatibility to suspended stainless steel shelves should I also remove the Rollerblock modules from the rack's columns?

Thanks and all the best
Michael

Hi Michael

Thank you for giving this a try. Please let us know the results as we are (I am) learning with you.

I'm not really up to speed on the material properties of bamboo with respect to resonance. I'm suggesting the silk bags because they should act as a buffer, whereas bamboo may not. Again, I don't know for sure. My gut is that the folded bags could be adequate. Maybe, after that settles give the bamboo board a try. Might be better....

I wouldn't remove the rollerblock modules. I think this could introduce a variable that might fog up your results. I think we need to assume that the modules are important to the overall performance of the support system and we don't want to diminish this as we experiment.

I hope this helps and I look forward to reading your findings.

All the Best

Joe

Joe, Are your feet compatible with using them on top of the Stacore isolation platforms?
Husk

This is an excellent question as I believe Stacore shelves are fabricated using SS. A trusted member of this forum is testing our compatibility with Stacore as I write this. I am hopeful that we'll know the answer to this important question in the near future.

Micro13 is testing our compatibility with SS on Symposium shelves by placing our folded silk bags under our feet. I look forward to his feedback.

Lots going on with respect to SS compatibility.

Thank you for asking. Please stay tuned.

All the Best

When you write SS, do you mean Solid steel?
